Während der französische Außenminister Jean-Noël Barrot General @MazloumAbdi trifft, legitimiert Außenminister Johann Wadephul in Berlin offenbar al-Jolani. Prinzipien werden ausgerollt – gleich neben dem roten Teppich.

Today, @SenBlumenthal and I introduced the Save the Kurds Act.
I believe that there is strong bipartisan support for the idea of protecting the Kurds in Syria and beyond because they have been such a reliable ally to the United States. The SDF – with a large Kurdish element – took the brunt of the fight to defeat ISIS in President Trump’s first term.
I realize Syria is complicated culturally, ethnically and politically. However, attacking the Kurds greatly diminishes the United States’ standing and will hinder Syria’s ability to grow as a country.
To those countries or groups who believe it is open season on the Kurds in Syria without consequence, you will be sadly mistaken.

I did not write this book because I am an expert on the Kurds. I wrote it because I am an admirer of the Kurds and I wanted to urge my fellow Americans to admire them, too. I believe the Kurds point a way out of the darkness in the Middle East and I feel privileged to tell a bit of their story. #MiddleEast #Kurds
Şehîdên fedayî yên Berxwedana El-Aliya bi xwîna xwe wateya rûmetê nivîsandin, û ji me re biryara azadî û tekişînê hiştin. Fedekariya wan dê her tim bibe çiraya ku qet na vemire.
Watching the deteriorating situation in Syria with great concern. The Kurds are under threat from the new Syrian government that is aligned with Turkey.
It would be a disaster for America’s reputation and national security interests to abandon the Kurds, who were the chief ally in destroying the ISIS caliphate.
Therefore, I will be introducing legislation this week designed to impose crippling sanctions on any government or group engaged in hostilities against the Kurds. The Save the Kurds Act, I believe, will receive strong bipartisan support and must have teeth to make it effective.
Stay tuned.
The Damascus government’s announcement of a ceasefire has not translated into any real commitment on the ground.
What we are witnessing today is a massacre in #Kobani and ongoing attacks across different areas of the #Jazira region.
The gap between official rhetoric and the bloody reality continues to widen. Any political process that does not begin with the protection of civilians remains nothing more than a political illusion.
Silence in the face of these crimes is a moral failure, and the international community bears an ethical responsibility to act.
HELP THE BRAVE KURDS
The city of Kobani is besieged. Cut off from water, electricity and internet.
The brave people who fought against ISIS are now under threat by jihadists.
They don’t deserve betrayal by the West, but our help and solidarity. Now.
