Rosalie Chapman's call to rejoin the EU is a must watch - one of the best speeches by a young person 👏
"Years ago, the people of this country made a choice"
"A choice that has left us isolated, diminished and weaker than before"
"To those who voted leave, I say this. You were lied to"
"Not just misled, not just misinformed. Lied to"

"Promises of £350 million a week for the NHS"
"Promises of trade deals so plentiful they'd fall in our laps"
"Promises of an economy unshackled from EU bureaucracy"
"Promises of falling migration, promises of sovereignty restored, and promises that Britain would reclaim its place as a leader on the world stage"
"Every single one of those promises was broken"
"And today we bear that cost"
"They will tell you that this country was broken and they fought to fix it"
"The reality is they broke it and now we have to fix it"
"If you voted to regain sovereignty, instead, you got borders that have never been more porous"
"If you voted to cut migration, instead you have a doubling of net migration since 2016"
"If you voted for 350 million pounds a week for the NHS, instead you have an NHS in crisis, understaffed, underfunded and overwhelmed"
"Ambulance wait times, the longest on record"
"Cancer care, the longest on record"
"If you voted for bold new trade deals, instead, you got five new trade deals, dwarfed in scale by the unparalleled access we once enjoyed with the European single market"
"If you voted for a trade revolution, instead, you got a trade collapse"
"If you voted for a booming economy, instead, exports have plummeted, small businesses are suffocating in paperwork and industries like fishing, once the poster child of Brexit, are being decimated by domestic tariffs and quotas"
"If you voted for a Great Britain, you were left with a little Britain"
"Ladies and gentlemen, this is not sovereignty, this
is not controlled, this is not opportunity"
"Let's call it what it is, a total national tragedy"
"By 2035, Brexit is predicted to have cost the UK 300 billion pounds"
"That is not a distant abstraction. It is a fiscal black hole that will impact every community, every classroom, every hospital bed in this country"
"The pound has plummeted, our exports have fallen by 15% and foreign investment is slipping through our fingers"
"40,000 jobs in London lost"
"2 million jobs nationwide lost"
"These are mere statistics. Until it's you"
"They say that Brexit hasn't changed much, but tell
that to the single mother in Manchester skipping meals to feed her children, as the average person is 2,000 pounds worse off than each year"
"Tell that to the small business owner in Birmingham, a steel parts manufacturer struggling to survive"
"After losing European clients and facing regulatory chaos that has crushed his trade"
"Tell that to the cancer patient in Bristol whose life saving treatments has been delayed because the NHS is short of 4,000 European doctors"
"And tell that to the young graduate in Liverpool stuck in a dead end job because opportunities to work, study and live abroad evaporated"
"These aren't just numbers, they are lives disrupted, dreams deferred and futures stolen"
"Brexit has robbed a generation of its future"
"My generation"
"Your generation"
"Our generation"
"The Erasmus scheme scrapped"
"Horizon Europe funding scrapped"
"And let us not forget the most personal loss of all our rights as EU citizens"
"The fettering of our freedom to live, work and thrive across 27 countries. Gone"
"Now we have less rights than no thank you than our parents enjoyed"
"And that is atrocious, because this isn't just about economics"
"It is about identity"
"It is a debate of hearts and a debate of minds"
"Brexit has not only shrunk our wallets, it has shrunk our role in the world"
"And we have lost a seat at the table. Instead of leading, we are following"
"Instead of shaping the global agenda, we are reacting to it"
"Instead of being a voice of authority, we are a nation on mute"
"Nobody mentions the UK anymore"
"We have made ourselves irrelevant. Members"
"These are not my words"
"They're Sir Richard Dearloves, the former head of MI6, and he could not have put it clearer. Irrelevant"
"He could not have put it more alarmingly irrelevant"
"And now, Brexit has not just failed, it has been rejected"
"Rejected by Brexiteers and rejected by remainers"
"Even Marine Le Pen, the firebrand of French Euroscepticism, has given up on Brexit, admitting that leaving the EU is a surefire path to disaster"
"And the British people know it too"
"Polls after poll tell the same story"
"Out of 233 polls conducted in the last three years, 200 and thirty show majority support for rejoining.
And here's the most damning fact of all"
"Just one constituency, one constituency, one Constituency out of 632 thinks Brexit was the right choice"
"I will concede, however, that the EU is no silver bullet that will terminate all our sorrows, or a shining beacon that will fix every mess. No members"
"The EU is not perfect and it never was. But it is better"
"Better together in trade, as part of the largest economic block in the world"
"Better together in science, where collaboration knows no borders"
"Better together in security, where unity strengthens our defenses against petty tyrants and expansionist dictators"
"And better together in spirit, where shared challenges are met with shared solutions"
"This is not the time to cling to the isolationist fantasies of a little Britain"
"It is time to live up to the true meaning of our name here in a bold Britain, we embrace our fellow Europeans, rejecting the suffocating confines of xenophobic rhetoric"
"Where in a brave Britain, we embrace our global responsibilities and forge alliances that champion unity, we're in a Great Britain"
"We are not shackled by the weight of our past, but are propelled by the promise of an open, outward looking future"
"So what would this look like? Simple"
"There would be another referendum, not necessarily this year, not necessarily in two years, but at some point in our future"
"Voters would receive a fact checked information booklet with details about the vote, what it would mean and accompanied by by party positions"
"And those who are skeptical, let me say this"
"A strong Britain needs a strong Europe, and a strong Europe wants a strong Britain"
"So members, if you seek a more prosperous economy, if you seek a more welcoming country, if you seek more personal freedom, reopen your hearts to Europe, members, reach out your arms to Europe, members, unclench your fists to Europe"
"Because before long, and no doubt within our lifetimes, the arguments which are being traded tonight will be played out before the country as a whole"
"So if there is anyone who doubts Britain's desire to re enter the eu, who still wonders if the dreams of unity are alive in our time, and who questions whether hope can triumph over the bitterness of our past, let tonight be that answer"
"I beg you, members, vote to rejoin the European Union"
"Thank you"
President Trump will learn pretty soon that Putin cannot be convinced with money, at least not any more. He is the richest person in Russia already, though he will never say no to more billions, but that wasn't the point of him starting the full scale war in Ukraine.
The thinking error many are doing, including Trump, however, is that Putin despite his rampant greed is well beyond the point of wealth. For him it is about legacy. His name should be named next to Peter the Great, Catherine the Great or Josef Stalin. He promised to bring Russia to its former "glory" where it was a dominant power. This is the only determining factor in his mind and not a balanced budget.
And that is also Putin's major problem. He hasn't achieved anything what warrants this glory. In the contrary, his war is an absolute failure. Not a single strategic goal was achieved, and I mean literally. Just listing the most important failures:
1.) President Zelenskyy and his administration are firmly in power. Unlike Putin, President Zelenskyy is traveling from country to country with virtual no restrictions, while Putin is basically confined to a handful countries.
2.) Kyiv is firmly under Ukrainian control and not even contested. In March 2022, Russia controlled 27% of Ukraine, today it is below 19%. The Ukrainian army despite some difficulties is fully intact and is fighting even on Russian soil.
3.) Donbas, which has full Russian attention, is largely still under Ukrainian control and even when we project the current speed it will stay this way for years to come.
4.) Russia couldn't take even one regional capital. The only one, Kherson, was even lost. Together with Zaporizhzhia city, it makes two cities by Russian definition are Russian cities.
5.) Almost all investments in energy infrastructure, especially pipelines, have virtually evaporated. What was once Russia's economic pride, Gazprom, has become a beggar and is on the verge go bankrupt. Refineries and gas storages are going in flames, left and right.
6.) Instead of curtailing NATO, Putin achieved to extend the alliance. Sweden and even Finland have further bolstered NATO's northern flank and revived NATO's spirit across all members. Instead of discussing 2%, we are now at 3% or 4% defense budget.
7.) Russia has completely lost his influence in the Caucasus and among the central Asian Turk states. China is moving into the political vacuum and does not even ask Moscow for permission.
8.) Generally, Russia is gradually relegated to be a Chinese vassal state, where it loses gradually all sovereignty. Putin brought Russia closer to what it was under the Golden Horde. Putin has even to import North Korean troops to balance out his horrific losses.
9.) The collapse of the Pro-Russian Assad regime destroyed Russia's strategic foothold in Syria, something what didn't even happened during the 1990s. Russia has virtually not saying in Middle East politics any more and its arm into Africa is severely weakened.
10.) The demographic catastrophe thanks to escalating losses on the battlefield, emigration but also childless families due to economic insecurities has reached levels which haven't ever been seen in Russia.
I could go on and on, the picture is clear. Russia is in a terrible shape and nobody, not even Putin's most ardent supporters, would name him next to the above mentioned Russian rulers. Putin is a thug who coincidentally got lucky to become president.
I'm pretty sure that Putin is well aware of his shortcomings. He expected this war to be a short affair, and if had his way and Ukraine would have collapsed, there would have been some reason to give him credit. But facts and reality are stubborn things, and they show his monumental miscalculation.
Coming back to President Trump's demand to halt this war. Russia desperately needs this pause. The economic situation is dire, the Soviet-are depots are running low and problems are starting swing out of control. I said before that we can argue where and when this point might arrive, but it is sure it will arrive.
Putin, however, would risk quite a lot, personally, if he would order a halt. We know that his maximum demands will never be met, not even by Trump, and Ukraine's demand to have some ironclad security guarantees are not outlandish. It is a must when a ceasefire would be even remotely possible.
Since we know that NATO admission will not be possible due to political obstructions from some members, the only remaining alternative would be a Western intervention into Ukraine, where the line of contact is manned by NATO/European troops. President Zelenskyy will not go below this minimum demand and that is what Ukraine needs.
Putin, on the other hand, knowing very well that this would mean nothing less than a complete and possible last major mistake on his part will most likely reject this compromise. Having Western troops in Ukraine was exactly what he claimed to stop when he started this open war.
And this is exactly where the trap for Putin lies and potentially will spring. Caught by this difficult choice and in desperation Putin might opt to continue the fight, hoping he could still achieve what will not be granted to him by talks and in doing so bringing the Trump administration on a direct collision course with him.
This confrontation is nothing would Trump could afford to lose. It would not only directly undermine his position as a dealmaker, but also make him look weak. President Trump will be forced to respond in kind by unleashing steps which the previous Biden administration wasn't willing to do. Whatever it takes, it will be done.
We had a similar situation back in Syria, when Assad was repeatedly using nerve agents against the Syrian population. While Obama's red lines were exposed as hollow, Trump clearly made sure that he wouldn't repeat this mistake. He even said that he covered Obama's red lines by bombing Assad.
Of course, while my 10 listed points are facts, nobody knows exactly what will happen. This is part of game theory. You collect the data, weigh-in all potential factors and project potential outcomes. My point is that Ukraine has some serious reason to be optimistic. The road ahead is far more riskier for Putin than for Zelenskyy.
Putin squandered monumental amounts of Russian resources and even worse for him, cannot offer realistic outcomes of an optimistic future. This is especially very concerning for him, when reflecting that even an autocracy needs a stable underbody of opportunists and technocrats who benefit this rule.
When looking at the options left, it is likely that many Russian oligarchs made already the math, which is that any optimistic outcome will only arrive when the war is getting stopped, but this you will get only when Putin gets removed. Then we are only a heartbeat away from what happened to Gaddafi, the Romanovs or Mussolini.
