NEKHEMIA BANANUKA
This gentleman was the first Munyankore to build a storied House in Ankole which he named "Omugabe Nankiza ki?". His his house still stands to-date in Ruharo, Mbarara.
He has a road named after him called "Bananuka Drive" in Mbarara city. He represented Rwampara County in 'Omu Ishengyero' aka Ankole Parliament.
Bananuka (Bananuka Drive named after him) apart from organizing over 100 men to defecate around the Omugabe's palace (Mugaba) and bringing the Ankole Kingdom to an end (an accusation that was not verified), together with his Colleagues like Kesi Nganwa (of Nganwa High), Muntuyera ( Muntuyera High ), Rev Eliakimu K. Kamujanduzi... fought for equality of Bairu against Bahima oppression in Ankole. They set up schools, churches, saccos, & transformed lives of 1000s of Banyankore. He was brutally killed alongside his three sons in September, 1972 during Amin's regime.
Copied.

@ANMakubuya@KCCAUG why stop at superficial road signs? are you willing to go all the way to uprooting the abrahamic faiths that laid the foundation for said colonial rule?
An Ebola ‘Conspiracy’?: Why is Uganda Blacklisted While DR Congo Where It Originated Gets a Pass?
It’s very difficult to get agreement on anything in politically polarised Uganda, but there is a rare growing consensus in the country that a "conspiracy" at play against it regarding the latest Ebola outbreak.
As is often the case, the virus originated in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) where 452 confirmed cases, 1,000 suspected cases, and 82 deaths have been recorded - before spilling over into Uganda.
Uganda has registered 15 cases and just ONE (1) death, a 59-year-old Congolese man who had come into the country from the DRC.
This is where it gets strange. Despite this disparity, western governments have issued over a dozen strict travel advisories specifically targeting Uganda, far eclipsing those levied against the DRC, and even suspension of visas!!!. This has prompted Ugandan politicians and social media users to rail against them and sections of international media like Al Jazeera for "bundling Uganda with Congo" and treating the two as a single entity.
The situation in Kenya might throw some light on the Uganda case. Protests erupted in Nanyuki, in the mountainous central region of the country, over a proposed US Ebola quarantine facility at Laikipia Air Base. This backdrop lends some credence to a disclosure from an authoritative Nairobi-based journalist who said: "We hear the US initially approached Uganda, which possesses the continent’s finest technical expertise on Ebola. Kampala refused, stating, 'We are too busy managing the spillover from Congo'."
If Kampala did indeed rebuff Washington, it is confounding given the Ugandan government’s long history of subservience to US interests. Yet, it might explain why conspiracy theories are thriving. Kampala likely suspects it is being internationally penalised for refusing to fall in line and serve as an Ebola "leper colony".
What is clear is how anomalous it is for a nation with minor spillover cases to be treated as the primary medical pariah.

@RogerJStoneJr: "I think that is the night that he resolves to run for president... 'maybe I'll just run, maybe I'll show them all'"
Not even one second in my wildest dreams have I ever seen myself on NBS PressBox, let alone hosting 🤯 but, surprise, it happened tonight.
I wish to thank @iRmutenda & @jermaine_egesa for making the landing soft… and fun!
Parliament said Phaneroo should NEVER have gotten that Naguru land.
Parliament voted to CANCEL their title.
The title was not cancelled.
Now they're blocking the Heart Institute's emergency road.
8,000 children need heart surgery every year.
Uganda only does 1,000.
The church is literally in the way. 🧵
They say you raise the bar with your guests& this year I started from the very top.
Five years old, standing on my shoulders, doing what he does best.
Together we made a Kenyan classic. Ugali, Nyama choma and Kachumbari.
One day he’ll stand on his own but today, we stood side by side, growing my greatest legacy and my best friend.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
