@EdmontonOilers@sentinelstorage Trade McDavid to a team that is actually going to surround him with other top players to win a championship. You have avoided spending on goaltending and defense for years and will now languish because of it. Truly sad for Oilers fans and wasting his prime years.
That non foul ball call in the @Padres game in the 9th inning was one of the most egregious and obvious non calls I’ve ever seen and cost Mason Miller a chance at a continued record. Very poor form @MLB@MLBNetwork@thestevenwoods
San Diego FC is an insanely fun watch.
Dynamic, brash, naive in the best way, and fearless in the moment.
Their goalkeeper Ferree and both outside backs, Bombino and Verhoeven, are 19 years old. One of their center backs, Manu Duah, is 20. Vazquez, who has scored a brace so far, is also 19. The kids ball.
Anders Dreyer may be the best player in North America outside of Messi, and they’re up 3-1 while being a man down since the 12th minute against back to back Liga MX champions.
Mikey Varas and Tyler Heaps have built something special.
Fun to watch. #SDFC
I desperately need to know if Mike ad-libbed all that or if he’s using the prompter. Either way, it’s one of the all-time great closes to a sporting event I’ve ever seen. It resonated deeply with the audience. If he did that off the top of his head, crown him now. Wow.
@Chase_Senior San Diego was always an incredible Super Bowl host city. Ask any member of the national media, but I digress. Forever a sad gut punch to our community after 56 years @NFL_2_SD@NFL@jimsteeg @berniewilson
@NFL_2_SD Talking to media during Super Bowl XXXII, every one of them said the only two cities that should ever host the SB should be San Diego and New Orleans. Obviously times have changed, but now the draft, combine, World Cup, and other events would be great here and we miss all. Sad.
@AlbertBreer Will San Diego ever get another NFL team? We were considered one of the best Super Bowl cities and the narrative Spanos fabricated about us not supporting the team is BS. He couldn’t get the city to build him a stadium. With a new owner, new stadium, could it happen? @NFL_2_SD
@LATimesfarmer Very true. It was great to see Phillip out there. Been a long time since we could root for an NFL team. Heartbreaking what was done to our city. We were loyal fans and a great Super Bowl City, but in the end it was all about $ for Spanos.
@NFL_2_SD@hochalicious@jimsteeg You can’t put a price on the visibility that a team brings to your city internationally let alone the civic pride that unites the community like nothing else does in positive times. I’m glad fans have so quickly coalesced around SDFC to help fill the void.
@NFL_2_SD@hochalicious@jimsteeg True, but when the city can’t fix potholes and runs a massive budget deficit, messaging any public subsidy for a sports team in this environment would be impossible. We missed making the case on what an economic asset the Chargers were and what a SB, drafts, mean to the economy.
