@notjustbikes Also my favourite part of Amsterdam being a 15, or 5, minute city, is that going 20 minutes feels like an adventure in a quaint European city. One of the best perks of living in Zuid.
@WhoMePeterG@Cycling_Embassy@BicycleDutch Definitely fewer people cycle but it’s not that unusual. This is my regular commute through Vondelpark after it snows. The wide tires of an omafiets can handle light snow and sand no problem and all the cycle paths are plowed regularly just like the roads.
@ChrisMorris1@Cycling_Embassy@BicycleDutch When each person in the country already owns 2-3 bikes and the going rate for a legit used bike is €150, the benefit of stealing a bike is lower than the reward. Flooding the market with affordable bikes and ensuring everyone has one already and thefts per capita will drop.
@KathyParkPrice@Cycling_Embassy@BicycleDutch Not much different in central Amsterdam. I live by Vondelpark near 2 schools and it’s mostly kids biking on their own from 12 years old. Younger than that parents will often accompany or drop off in bakfietsen.

For trips in Amsterdam, a family of 4 usually take bikes instead of cars. This family were holding hands as they rode through Vondelpark. 🥰 @ Vondelpark Holland https://t.co/6pFaKOk5CS
@notjustbikes Your videos are immensely persuasive! I’ve got family in the midwest who now admit “Europe does some things better” but they still don’t see how it could ever apply to them in small town Nebraska. “Bikes are for Amsterdam” is a common refrain 😩
@notjustbikes North americans can't understand dutch traffic calming or how that effects drivers (besides bad). Have you considered a video from the perspective of a driver? Brick pavers, raised intersections, chicanes, centre pedestrian islands are great for car safety, too.
It’s 32c (89.6f) today so time to go to the little swimming spot 5 minutes from our house. Nothing like an after work dip. 😎 @ Schinkeleilanden https://t.co/N4gnVqveFa
