Long drives with three kids mean constant park stops. So we built WanderWay: turn-by-turn navigation that finds parks, stories and stops along your route. iPhone + CarPlay. Free 14-day trial. https://t.co/FNvtKiD4Wm
Planning a stop the kids will love? WanderWay 2.2 added a Zoo & Aquarium category, so zoos and aquariums near you show up right on the map, with how far away each one is. Tap one to read about it. #FamilyRoadTrip

Parking, fees and how far you'll walk for scenic overlooks from Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge to the Poconos, Michigan and Colorado. Read this before your fall drive. ๐๏ธ https://t.co/Jz4LquAQwk
New in WanderWay 2.2: Military History. Battlefields, forts, war memorials and military museums show up on the map around you. Tap one to read its story or listen, and see how far out of your way it really is. #MilitaryHistory

Found a neat town? WanderWay's Walking Tours plan a 30, 60 or 90-minute walk from stop to stop near you, then walk you back to your car. iPhone, new in 2.2.

Mt Lemmon goes from saguaros to pine forest in 27 miles, climbing about 6,500 feet and getting about 20 degrees cooler on the way up. I put every pullout in elevation order so you know what's coming before you leave Tucson. ๐ตโก๏ธ๐ฒ https://t.co/Rtb9vkP3Dq
New in WanderWay: Sunset Drives. Pick a viewpoint, park, lake or beach, and WanderWay tells you when to leave so you get there before sunset. A reminder lets you know when it's time, and the drive ends right at your sunset spot. #GoldenHour
WanderWay is made for iPhone Duo. Folded or open, the map, turn-by-turn guidance and nearby places fit the screen, and nothing important lands in the fold.
Find covered bridges, overlooks and historic stops along your drive.

Keep your eyes up and the trip on your car's screen. WanderWay on CarPlay gives you turn-by-turn with stops along the route, the weather where you're headed right on the map while you navigate, and Hear the Story for places nearby. #CarPlay https://t.co/RPXKA7RPIr
Road trips from Florida to Ohio with three kids meant a lot of unplanned stops. So I built an app that finds the parks, waterfalls and historic places along your route. This is the story behind WanderWay. https://t.co/iuTIlPJm7I
WanderWay 2.2 is live on the App Store, and it's for walks as well as drives.
What's new:
โข Walking Tours: pick 30, 60 or 90 minutes and WanderWay plans a walk from stop to stop near you, then guides you on foot. It remembers where you parked and walks you back to your car.
โข Sunset Drives: pick a viewpoint, park, lake or beach, and WanderWay tells you when to leave so you arrive before sunset.
โข Photo Recap: when a drive or a walk ends, see the route, visit stamps and the photos you took along the way. The photos stay on your device.
โข More places: Zoo & Aquarium, Military History (battlefields, forts, war memorials and military museums), Waterfall, Lighthouse, Orchard & Farm Market, Cemetery and Sports Courts.
โข Destination weather: your arrival time, the weather where you're headed and a rain heads-up share one card. CarPlay shows it on the map too.
โข Apple Watch: see your next turn on your wrist while you navigate.
โข Saved When You Start: WanderWay can download the route as you set off, so the sights and descriptions stay with you when the signal drops. On cellular data, it asks first.
โข Curated Routes: the new name for Sunday Drive. A loop or a drive to a destination, from 30 minutes to 5 hours.
โข Also: search results as pins on the map, Standard, Satellite or Hybrid maps (CarPlay uses the same choice), a new Liquid Glass look, steadier GPS, and iPhone Duo support.
โข Now in Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Swedish and Ukrainian.
Still built by one person, for iPhone and CarPlay. If you try it, tell me what you think. #CarPlay

Made a drive worth remembering? Open it in your WanderWay Road Trip Journal and tap Share Drive. You get a picture card with the route map, trip stats and the places you passed, ready to send to family. #FamilyRoadTrip
Bonjour, Hallo, Ciao, ยกHola! WanderWay is translated into English, French, German and Italian, plus Spanish written separately for Spain and Mexico. From the map to Settings, the app speaks your language. #RoadTrip
Fumbling with your phone at 60 mph on a country road is how you miss the turn for the scenic overlook. The whole point of the drive is looking at the landscape, not a screen. CarPlay isn't a nice-to-have for scenic navigation. It's the only screen that matters.
I also modernized Cody Krieger's gfxCardStatus for current macOS: universal for macOS 13+, signed and notarized, with built-in updates, native notifications when the GPU switches, and optional rules that pick the GPU by power source.

I brought Aaron Burghardt's Disk Arbitrator up to date for modern Macs. 0.10.2 is universal (Apple Silicon and Intel, macOS 13+), signed and notarized, with a disk event audit log, trusted disks that mount while others stay blocked, and built-in updates.

Done with the 14-day free trial? WanderWay keeps working for free: nearby places within 5 miles, place details and photos, destination search and route previews. Navigation and Story Mode stay with a one-time $4.99 unlock. No subscription. https://t.co/EiWX061J0Q
Rainy day, itchy feet? A WanderWay Sunday Drive checks the forecast and National Weather Service alerts, and favors indoor stops when rain or snow is expected. Pick anywhere from 30 minutes to 5 hours and go. #RainyDay

@grok I'd like to get Android compatibility built, but the costs related to routing and turn by turn directions are a little much for me at this stage. For the iOS app, the next version will support walking tours.
