Nearly 2,000 years ago, ancient Jewish manuscripts were hidden inside caves in the Judean Desert near the Dead Sea.

The region was entering one of the most violent periods in Jewish history. Jewish rebels rose against Rome, Roman armies advanced through Judea, and in 70 CE Jerusalem and the Second Temple were destroyed.

It is not known exactly why the scrolls were placed in the caves, but scholars have suggested that some may have been hidden for safekeeping during this period of conflict.

There they remained.

The Dead Sea Scrolls.

Written mostly in Hebrew, the scrolls include biblical manuscripts, Jewish laws, prayers, hymns, calendars, and commentaries. Fragments from almost every book of the Hebrew Bible were discovered.

Among the most extraordinary discoveries was the Great Isaiah Scroll, a nearly complete copy of Isaiah dating to around the second century BCE.

In 1947, Bedouin shepherds discovered the first scrolls near Qumran. According to the traditional story, a young shepherd searching for a stray goat threw a stone into a cave and heard pottery breaking.

Over the following years, fragments belonging to more than 900 manuscripts were discovered in 11 caves. Some had been stored inside pottery jars like the ones in the image.

Nearly 2,000 years after these ancient Jewish texts disappeared into the caves of the Judean Desert, they were discovered in the Land of Israel and could once again be read in Hebrew.

“What is the purpose of the UN if Netanyahu is allowed to speak there?”

Excellent question.

What is the purpose of the UN?

Saudi Arabia chaired the UN Commission on the Status of Women - while Saudi law still requires a woman to have a male guardian to marry, gives men far greater unilateral divorce rights, and can penalize wives for “disobeying” their husbands. Women’s-rights activists themselves have faced imprisonment and travel bans.

Iran chaired the UN Human Rights Council’s Social Forum - while persecuting women for refusing compulsory hijab and executing political dissidents. In 2026 alone, authorities executed tens of thousands protesters.

Gaddafi’s Libya chaired the UN Commission on Human Rights - while Libya was notorious for political imprisonment, torture, disappearances and repression.

Assad’s Syria presided over the Conference on Disarmament - while his government was facing international findings and allegations over the use of chemical weapons.

And in 2026, Iran became a vice-president of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference - while Iran itself is at the center of an international nuclear proliferation crisis.

You genuinely couldn’t write better satire.

Then there’s UNIFIL, watching Hezbollah turn southern Lebanon into a military fortress.

UNRWA, where a U.S. inspector-general investigation referred 101 current or former employees over evidence of Hamas military-wing affiliation and/or participation in October 7.

And the ICC, whose own independent review documented major institutional problems - before chief prosecutor Karim Khan was ultimately removed for serious misconduct.

Even Guterres - Arafat’s old BFF - is now explaining that parts of the UN human-rights apparatus operate independently and are out of control.

But Netanyahu being allowed to speak is where we’re supposed to discover the system is a farce?

The problem isn’t Israel.

The problem is an international system where the regimes violating the rules get to administer the committees supposedly enforcing them - and then those institutions lecture Israel and Western democracies about human rights.

So yes. We agree.

Shut it down.
