Wary Europeans have learned the hard way not to take Donald Trump at his word. Nevertheless, the G7 summit ended with a mood of cautious optimism that America might be persuaded to renew some support for Ukraine https://t.co/6Fy1JDasmn
In essence, wartime access “makes every state in the world—no matter how far from American shores—the United States’ next-door neighbor,” writes @ProfRachelMetz.

❗️ The US and G7 countries will begin producing long-range missiles and air defense systems in Ukraine
The landmark agreement will allow Western weapons to be manufactured in Ukraine under license, according to Le Parisien.
For Kyiv, this means not just new deliveries, but the development of a large-scale domestic defense industry based on Western technologies.
Meanwhile, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that G7 partners will increase military and financial support for Ukraine while stepping up pressure on Moscow. According to him, for the first time since Donald Trump returned to power, the West has managed to reach a unified position on key security issues.
Ukraine is demonstrating that the Russian war machine is not unstoppable.
Together, NATO Allies have given billions in artillery, ammunition and aid, but it is crucial to continue this support to help Ukraine

I met with Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer. The United Kingdom has taken new important decisions in support of Ukraine and introduced new sanctions steps against Russia’s shadow fleet. Thank you! All of this works towards peace.
I informed Keir about the consequences of the recent Russian strikes. We discussed the possible participation of the United Kingdom in the restoration of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the implementation of the agreements reached during today’s G7–Ukraine meeting, potential areas for further pressure on Russia, and steps to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense.
Thank you, Keir Starmer, for your unwavering support for our people.
Donald Trump cares more about politics than our national security. Bill Pulte, who is fundamentally unqualified for the job, is about to be in charge of our intelligence and that only makes Americans less safe.

We offered Putin to meet anywhere where real decisions to end the war could be made. He does not want it.
We discussed with the U.S. and France the possibility of a meeting with Russia around the G7, with all democratic nations represented. Putin does not want it.
Yesterday, we discussed with President Trump that such a meeting could be organized in the U.S. – in a format where Putin would find it much harder to refuse at least to President Trump.
We will see what comes of it. If Russia refuses this chance as well, additional pressure will be needed.

I just watched priests trying to save crucifixes from a burning monastery.
This is what russia is destroying.
The Kyiv Lavra is one of the holiest Orthodox sites on earth. A UNESCO World Heritage site.
Moscow calls itself “Christian civilisation.”
It’s literally barbarism.
I am grateful to the UK for taking this important step against Russia’s oil fleet – a shadow fleet tanker has been detained off the UK's southern coast.
It was Russia’s hubris, fueled by high oil and gas revenues, that paved the way for this war, and every decision by partners that deprives Russia of money also limits the war itself.
I thank @Keir_Starmer and all Britons for such principled resolve. And Europe urgently needs to take legislative steps to enable not only the detention of tankers and restrictions on oil shipments, but also the confiscation of the oil they carry. This will certainly help bring peace closer.
