@jfkplus60@reschultzed I am enthralled by these. If you ever put these out as ebooks I'm sure you'd make money, cuz I'd buy them.
Really hoping you got something in mind after Lincoln cuz I'm HOOKED.
@realsneakking@ettingermentum Totally. As a fan of what used to be the Expos, I have sympathy for small market teams. But with revenue sharing, luxury tax money, and God knows how much gambling advertising money they must have coming in now, its not IF they can spend $200 million, it's WHY don't they?
@Azthot247@ettingermentum And the reason the Dodgers can become the Dodgers is because teams like the Pirates pocket their profits and revenue sharing proceeds and let guys like Skenes get miserable and dream of going to a real team, like the Dodgers.
@Azthot247@ettingermentum Agree the league needs a floor. Agree that Ohtani makes Dodgers a destination.
Disagree that only the Dodgers can do this. Yankees and Red Sox make comparable revenues, but specially in the case of the Red Sox, they've given up on spending for...reasons?
@Viraj_13_@ettingermentum That's a friendly reply, pal. Who shit in your cornflakes?
Since I know so little about arbitration, did Detroit HAVE to lowball a two time Cy Young winner? They had NO opportunity to just straight up offer him what he felt he was worth and lock him down long term?
Thanks pal.
@ettingermentum For comparison,
Dodgers paid Yamamoto $27 million a year.
Skubal is statistically a better pitcher. Detroit offered him $19.8 million.
Sure, Skubal isnt a UFA yet, but do you really think he's motivated to stay in Detroit with an offer like that?
@ettingermentum I hold no ill will to Ohtani, Tucker, etc for getting their bags.
The problem are the miserly owners who have no interest in competing for their attention and are ok with settling on losing seasons.
I'm trying to imagine a Democratic president saying openly and proudly that he would be sending federal agents to target the 'Republican Power Center' in Texas, Florida, and Tennessee. We would be in the midst of a civil war before he'd finished saying those words.
