Urgent Appeal to Save Lives
We, Ethiopian refugees living in South Africa, are currently facing an extremely serious humanitarian and security crisis. A coordinated campaign of hatred has been directed against us, exposing us to severe threats, intimidation, and violations of our fundamental human rights.
The situation has become so grave that we are no longer able to protect ourselves or withstand these attacks on our own. We therefore respectfully appeal to international human rights organizations, United Nations agencies, world leaders, and all defenders of human rights to hear our urgent plea.
We humbly ask you to urgently investigate our situation, monitor the ongoing violations, and take immediate action to ensure our safety and protect our fundamental rights. Your intervention is critical to preventing further suffering and safeguarding the lives and dignity of vulnerable refugees.
This is an urgent call to save lives. Please hear our voices and act before it is too late.
International law guarantees protection for those fleeing persecution. Yet refugees in South Africa continue to face fear and prejudice daily. We urge global leaders & @UN Human Rights to work with South African authorities to safeguard basic refugee rights. @AfricanUnion
Ethiopian refugees in South Africa are losing their lives daily, having their properties destroyed, and living in constant fear. Now, to make matters worse, we are being denied access to basic healthcare and hospitals.
