UBC TV journalist Kijanganoma selected as new Tooro king

Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) news anchor Prince Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma has been selected as the new Omukama of Tooro to succeed the late King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.

Kijanangoma’s selection was announced on Wednesday evening at Karuziika Palace by elders of the Babiito royal clan, which traces the lineage of the Tooro monarchy.

According to a statement from the office of the Omusuuga, the head of the Babiito royal clan, Kijanangoma was selected by a 21-member committee constituted by members of the clan to oversee the succession process following the death of King Oyo.

Dear Gen. @mkainerugaba ,

I wish to clarify that the clip circulating about a party to be thrown for AAA is fake. Whoever brought it to you is your enemy, and is wrongly dragging a whole CDF into a malicious falsehood.

Some unscrupulous person edited a small clip out of an old video I made on 6th May 2026. In that video, I was advising young people to make money during the swearing-in political season, especially those in businesses of decor, clothing, make-up, hair, etc. I gave an example that many MPs, Ministers, the Speaker, Deputy Speaker and others would be throwing swearing-in parties, including the grand celebration for H.E. the President's swearing-in.

At that time of that video, on 6th May 2026, Rt Hon AAA was a popular candidate for Speaker of Parliament. I was supporting her, PLU and yourself had endorsed her, and even CEC had recommended her alongside Rt. Hon. Tayebwa. That position later changed, all forces including NRM and PLU withdrew support, and we all moved on.

Therefore, someone bringing up that old video now and deliberately circulating a specific clip is baseless and mischievous. In fact I was offline since Sunday night so I only got to know about the malicious lies from my Bro @MwesigyeFranks like 10.20pm last night and Frank can attest I had no idea there was some trending nonsense! I have been too busy!!!

I know first-hand that you are a good person, Gen. MK. People should be guided that they can get favours from you without maligning other people.

Many crooks will abuse access to you by framing resourceful people while covering up their own corruption. I pray the Almighty God grants you discernment.

Your dreams are valid and millions of people are cheering you on, Gen MK. Do not let crooks speak louder than your strategies.

I have worked with you right from University, through media; you sent me on several mobilization assignments especially in Greater Masaka, way before the crooks and the noise. You know my competencies, you know my story, you are my family.
