#BREAKING: The Utah Supreme Court has voided Amendment D because of its failure to publish as required. It will not be voted on this November.
This also impacts A because lawyers today agreed that if the publication issue was upheld, it would make that lawsuit moot. @KSL5TV
#BREAKINGNEWS: A judge as struck Amendment D as VOID. It can be printed on the ballots but it is "void and has no effect." The state has said they will appeal.

Utah Twitter, make this trend. The legislature has engaged in unbelievable deceptive practices to put this on our ballot and trick all of us into giving up our rights. Regardless of your political persuasions, let's all be as loud about this as possible. Vote no on amendment D.
Nobody rational looks at Utah's balance of power and concludes that our legislative branch needs more. This constitutional amendment is a scheme to take power from citizens and hand it to the legislature.
They don't need more power. We do. Let's stop this.https://t.co/4B6Arbf4eI
And we should search out and support legislators and candidates who view power with caution and respect, and who seek to share it and live with checks and balances instead of trying to find ways to work around or remove them. Let’s change the political incentives.
Here’s the thing about state constitutional amendments in Utah: they can only be initiated by the legislature.
This means that if an amendment is passed that gives the legislature more power, there’s almost no chance that the people can rescind it if the power is abused.
NEW: The proposed constitutional amendment language to be voted on in a special session tomorrow is now public. It adds the words "through the legislative process" to Utah's Constitution -- so the ability for voters to alter and reform their government "through the legislative process."
It also makes it retrospective, meaning it would apply to past initiatives, presumably affecting the current lawsuit over the redistricting case. #utpol @KSL5TV
This sign sits at the beginning of I-70 in Maryland. Over the years there have been several visitors to Cove Fort from people who have seen this sign and wondered, What is Cove Fort?"
