🤝🏻 A Man-to-Man Promise by Usopp’s Voice Actor!

Kappei Yamaguchi (the voice actor of Usopp) has a young son who deeply loves the ONE PIECE series, and one of his favorite characters is Nico Robin. He wished—just once in his life—to participate in voice recording for the ONE PIECE anime. 💔

One day, his father told him that he would make his wish come true and ensure that he would take part in ONE PIECE, no matter the cost. It was a promise between a father and his son. 🤝🏻

During the Zou Arc, Kurozumi Kanjuro drew a dragon named “Ryunosuke,” which Nico Robin found adorable, and she was even moved when his role came to an end. 🥹

At that moment, Usopp’s voice actor submitted a request for his son to voice the dragon Ryunosuke. TOEI Studio immediately approved the idea, as it perfectly fit a very beautiful concept. 💡

Before the recording session, the father filmed his son while he was reviewing the script and feeling nervous—despite the fact that his character would not speak a single word. He was carefully reviewing the exact moments and seconds when he needed to mimic the mouth movements of his character to create the sound effects. 📸

After the recording was finished, the father wrote a comment on his blog saying:🗣

“Today, I worked with my son. I secretly took this photo.” 🤫

There were three reasons why the studio agreed to let his son take on the role of the dragon Ryunosuke 📝:

🔹 The son loves Nico Robin, and there was a very touching scene between the two characters in which Nico Robin says to him, “I’m proud of you, Dragon Ryunosuke.” It felt as if Nico Robin was proud of the voice actor—who, in turn, loves Nico Robin—whose voice actress also shares the surname “Yamaguchi.” 🔄

🔹 There is a scene between Usopp and the dragon Ryunosuke in which Usopp encourages him to reach the top of Zunesha despite exhaustion and hardships. This scene reflects what happened behind the scenes, as if the father were encouraging his son to put in great effort to achieve his goal. 🎯

🔹 The character’s name is Dragon Ryunosuke, and the voice actor’s name is also Ryunosuke Yamaguchi.🐉

And so, the father fulfilled his promise to his son in the most beautiful way possible.👨‍👦
