.@Airtel_Ug and .@UCC_Official can you please explain this: why in the world will the telco require medical certificate of death to transfer a SIM card of a deceased to the spouse? What bizarre statistics are you drawing from someone’s medical history and cause of death, which should be a very private matter? Or you just enjoy people’s grief so much that you have to put such sadistic obstacles in people’s way? Is @NIRA_Ug death certificate not enough? Should I curse you in English, Serbian, or Rukiga?
@MarthaKayug It's inherited from the British legal system and is commonly used in Commonwealth countries.
In Uganda, the High Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court still use "My Lord" as the standard form of address. However, in the Magistrates' Courts, "Your Worship" is used instead.
This afternoon, I held a constructive meeting with three representatives from Ugandans on X (UOX), led by their President, @KwikirizaNova .The discussions focused on key priorities:
• Strengthening organization within the content creator community
• Engaging @Stripe to accelerate the monetization approval process for Ugandan creators on X
• Leveraging the Government’s readiness to engage directly with young people and digital entrepreneurs.
We are committed to advancing opportunities that enable Ugandan content creators to monetize their work effectively.
Earlier today, in the company of our General Secretary @erich_mboowa and Head of Legal Affairs @Fattah250, we held a fruitful meeting with the State Minister for ICT & National Guidance, @KabbyangaB, on the monetisation of digital platforms in Uganda, particularly the urgency of enabling creators on X to receive their revenue share directly.
I presented the concept and proposed a practical solution, which the Minister received positively and acknowledged as feasible. He even made several relevant calls in our presence, reinforcing confidence that we are on a path toward meaningful progress.
The Minister is an open-minded leader, and I strongly believe he will play a key role in transforming Uganda’s digital sector.
Special thanks to @HasonMutunzi for opening the door for us 🙏

Hello @Stripe,
My name is Gideon Nova Kwikiriza from Uganda.
Ideally, this is a request that should come through official government channels, but unfortunately that has not yet happened. I’m therefore reaching out as a citizen and member of the creator community.
There are many creators on X in Uganda who qualify for creator revenue sharing but are currently unable to access their earnings because Stripe services are not yet available in our country.
Introducing Stripe to Uganda would unlock opportunities for thousands of digital creators and entrepreneurs who are already contributing to the global digital economy. It would also encourage more creators to monetize responsibly, increase engagement on the platform, and ultimately grow the ecosystem in a way that benefits both creators and Stripe.
Uganda has a rapidly growing digital community, and access to global payment infrastructure like Stripe would be a transformative step for our creators.
I sincerely hope you will consider expanding your services to Uganda.
Thank you. 🙏

In Uganda, only 38% of men participate in maternal health decisions. But through sports, that’s changing.
We used sports to turn 152 men into champions for SRHR and positive parenting.

@UEDCLTD Hi @UEDCLTD we seem to have power fluctuating (on and off) for about 2 hours now, here in Kasangati, Kito Wampeewo, behind Wampeewo Ntake school. Meter number 01454376433. 0759104676.
@UEDCLTD Is power supposed to be off at this time here in Seeta - Kasangati (Kito - Kazinga, behind Wampeewo Ntake school). Meter number 01454376433. 0759104676. Some parts have power and others do not have.
@HustleCorp256@NIRA_Ug@Khimera72 @NelsonMqndela It’s actually *216#. But it’s really not useful. It just says “external application down”, and I have tried for weeks. My guess is that either the platform is not yet ready to be used / it’s just slow due to the heavy traffic. Either way, it’s not a good experience.
@UEDCLTD@mutaasah1 In the UMEME days, there was a link to see ongoing outages. For some of us who do not like complaining, it consoled us after seeing a reason. Nowadays power goes off and you have to study @UEDCLTD’s entire timeline to see anyone mention a power outage from your location. Not cool
