After being condemned to 8 years in a DRC jail, @SamMugumya had thought he would come home upon his release. He was instead whisked away to exile. While there he looked for ways of returning home. One day he asked if there were diplomatic options that can be explored to make sure he returns and remains safe in his country. When these failed, he told me he will have to return nonetheless. He was frustrated out of being stateless, of still being a prisoner even if he was out of jail walls, of not being able to see his loved ones. He told me he would return if they imprison him so be it. If he could survive in a DRC jail where he was only visited twice in 8 years, he said, he can survive in a jail here where his loved ones can visit him. Poor Sam didn’t know this state had changed for the worst since he left and throwing an opponent in prison isn’t the worst they can do! It is now 72 hours and his whereabouts are still unknown. #FreeSamMugumya
