CPTSD is sitting alone on your birthday and telling yourself you prefer it this way. It's convincing yourself you don't need people when the truth is you needed people so badly once and they weren't there. So you stopped needing them before they could leave first. Loneliness you chose still feels safer than abandonment you didn't.
