@MarketNewsLK You will, definitely, if you understand what to ask. 99% of people generally gets that bit right, hence becomes a very useful tool for the people who have a basic understanding of the argument in question 😊
@MarketNewsLK I didn’t say “NEVER purchase SURPLUS DOLLARS” what you have confused yourself with is assuming if the oil bill was 1.55b less, the exchange will be at 340 per USD. No, it won’t be, it will be 310. There won’t be any “surplus dollars” to talk of.
@MarketNewsLK There is no such a thing as the CB purchasing the surplus. Yes, the additional $1.55b is a net outflow. This same theory was openly discussed by politicians who don’t have a clue of how the system works. Especially prominent when the important restrictions were taken off vehicles
🛢️This chart is a striking illustration of how the Strait of Hormuz crisis is reshaping—not just reducing—Middle East oil flows.
Fujairah and Sohar sit outside the Strait, and the surge in crude departures from these ports suggests they are increasingly functioning as bypass, transshipment and ship-to-ship transfer hubs for barrels that would historically have followed more direct routes through Hormuz.
The important point: this does not necessarily mean the UAE or Oman suddenly produced dramatically more crude.
It may also offer an indirect signal of growing “dark” vessel activity. As ships transit with limited or interrupted AIS visibility, tracking the full voyage becomes more difficult, and activity can effectively reappear outside Hormuz around hubs such as Fujairah and Sohar. The chart is not a direct measure of dark activity, but the changing pattern is consistent with a market in which voyage continuity has become harder to observe.
In other words, the disruption is showing up not only in oil prices and tanker rates, but in the geography—and visibility—of the physical oil market itself.
🚢Data from DSET
An update to the Iranian NITC tankers: More tankers have arrived as expected and a handful of them have moved slightly north west probably because of the lack of anchorage space. One tanker DEEP SEA seems to have sailed off but as the saying goes, one swallow doesn't make a summer.
Also shoutout to @LVision_Trading for her tracking, which is what clued me on to this pattern of ships popping up off of Sri Lanka and most of my upward revisions. You should give her a follow
