The more senior you become, the more expensive interruptions become
Early in your career, switching between tasks doesn't feel particularly expensive. You finish a ticket, answer a question, jump into a meeting, then come back and continue.
As the complexity of your work increases, the cost changes.
If you're thinking through an architecture, debugging a subtle production issue, or making an important decision, getting interrupted for five minutes can cost much more than five minutes. Sometimes you lose the entire mental model and spend another thirty minutes getting back to where you were.
This is why protecting focus becomes more important as you become more experienced.
Not every message needs an immediate response. Not every meeting needs your presence. And not every problem becomes more important simply because someone sent you a message about it.
Your attention is a finite resource. Treat it like one.
Gen Zs thank your parents; otherwise, you won't have a roof to live under.
The real estate is in a bubble, and it will never burst.
It is impossible to purchase one now.
Fast-forward 2020, common man's psyche is conditioned to accept that bathing area can be shared with urinals. And in fact the two being distant separate spaces became a news/outlier.
All seething ppl can perform a simple activity as fact-check:
Go visit any old structure home, say built before 1990s.
You will always see toilet and bathroom separate. The common psyche of our parents and grandparents was to not share the space of bathing with urinating. +
If Ashish Dhar, one of the most articulate, sophisticated and genuinely well read commentator gets to be a dehati, then all of us are happily dehati.
He can be mocked and ridiculed because he believes in smthg and stands up for that by those who are condemned to have no faith.
Slowly the population explosion happened, size of plots reduced, people travelled more visited hotels more.
In most hotels/suites people saw toilets and bathing area in the same shared place. Hotels interiors become aspirational and shared bathing areaalignedw with less space.
Instagram straight up copied Stories from Snapchat and it became the most used feature on the platform
Google was the 18th search engine. Zoom launched into a market Skype had owned for a decade. Shopify didn't invent ecommerce.
I grew a hearing aid brand 8x in a market that had existed for literally 100 years. Bought media properties that were already profitable. Never invented a single thing.
Originality is overrated. The money is in executing better on something people already want.
A woman is repeatedly sexually harassed by a male employee in a Company. She complains.
As a preventive measure, the company responds: "From now on, all female employees get two free coffees every day"
Absurd, right?
A student is bullied for being physically weak in school. Parents complain. The school decalres: "All physically weak students get free Library access."
Seniors rag a few freshers. The college responds: "Every fresher gets free pizza every weekend."
Ridiculous, because the solution has nothing to do with the actual problem.
That exactly is Caste Reservation in a nutshell which is presented as a solution to Caste Discrimination.
If Caste discrimination is the problem. Reservation is not a cure for casteism.
A casteist won't suddenly stop being casteist because you got admission or a Govt job through Reservation. You don't eliminate prejudice by handing out quotas.
Also, you are taking an individual or group-specific instance of wrongdoing and responding with a blanket benefit to an entire demographic. Which is complete nonsense.
And just like the free coffee, books or pizzas, blanket benefits have consequences.
Someone has to pay for them which affects the budget.
Merit is the cost being paid for Reservations.
And when benefits are distributed based on group identity rather than individual circumstances, people outside that category can reasonably question the fairness of the system.
Most importantly, reservation does NOT directly punish the discriminator, or change his mindset, or stop discriminatory behaviour.
So don't sell it as a cure for Casteism.
You don't eliminate Caste discrimination by creating a system that continues to classify people by Caste.
So don't confuse handing out Quotas with eliminating prejudice.
@Abhijee05948507@Being_Humor Uncle explained that if someone plants a false case against you, four women will show up to give false statements in court, and you'll be finished for life. Classic cynical take on how easily the police-judiciary system can be gamed with manufactured evidence.
Once in Mahabharat war, Ashwatthama tried to kill the child in Uttara's womb.
This act made Shri Krishna so angry, he cursed Ashwatthama to suffer in excruciating pain for thousands of years and took away mani (मणि) from his forehead. Then Krishna revived the child.
भ्रूणहत्या = Abortion = Murder of child in womb is such a big paap that even Bhagwan Krishna who didn't get so angry across entire Mahabharat, completely lost his cool at the heinous act of Ashwatthama. That's how much sacred a life in the womb is.
State will give coaching!!
This is mental bankruptcy.
A state will give free coaching to students so that they can appear in tests to be conducted by the same govt!
It is like saying that our system is rotten so the schools and colleges did not teach you. Therefore, now we are creating a parallel system to teach you.
Look at the absurdity of the entire proposition!!
The Meena community, which makes up only around 4.5% of the ST population, gets around 40% of the seats in the UPSC: @talk2anuradha
Around 81% of cases under the SC/ST Act are filed against OBCs...Data shows that reserved categories are involved in caste discrimination more than the general category. So, who is punishing whom?: @neha_laldas
Watch INDIA UPFRONT with @roypranesh.
@Rogers67b@NotBhaskar72 So you're saying that hindu women've the agency to file cases of all kinds in court, but don't've the same agency to follow Dharmik values?
Men are not responsible for independent modern women and their behaviour. A Man should be responsible only for his own Dharmik duty.
You know why Rich influential SC/ST oppose creamy layer??
See live example 👇
An IIT, IIM educated IRS officer opposing "creamy layer" in SC/ST reservation,, so that his children can enjoy the reservation benefits!!
The hysteria over FCRA tells you precisely why India needs FCRA.
Follow the argument and then follow the money.
India is saying something extraordinarily simple: if money enters this country from a foreign source, India has the sovereign right to know who sent it, who ultimately controls it, where it is being spent and for what purpose.
What exactly is objectionable about that?
Around 16,200 registered organisations received nearly ₹23,000 crore in foreign contributions in 2024–25 alone.
So please spare us the fiction that the FCRA Bill will “shut down civil society”.
What is being tightened is accountability.
And suddenly there is panic.
We are told regulating foreign-funded NGOs is an attack on democracy.
Since when did democracy mean that an unelected organisation financed from another country acquires a constitutional right to operate without rigorous scrutiny?
