My client recently said:

"Don't redesign that page we're #1 in Google."

So I took a look. That #1 ranking was bringing in 71 visits a month - about 3.8% of their total traffic. Their blog was doing 12× better. And nobody had set up conversion tracking, so there was no way to tell if that page had ever actually led to a sale.

I walked them through what I found. They decided to move forward.

Nobody asked me to look into it. I just did.

The job isn't only about executing the brief. It's also about noticing when the brief is based on something that doesn't hold up
