@bphillipsonMP haven’t heard many people say they’ve enjoyed taking their child out of a bad state school, they’ve just decided to do something about it …. That’s not luxury! That’s desperation & willingness to put education above other things! Your attitude is so ignorant it beggars belief!

No parent would CHOOSE to move their child during GCSE or A-level years, especially in January, with exams less than 6 months away. So why did @UKLabour ignore the harm to those Y10-13 students whose parents could not afford #SchoolFeeVAT? It’s beyond comprehension. So did Labour:
a) Not do their homework?
b) Blinded by stereotype, assume all parents can afford it?
c) Know the harm and consider these kids #CollateralDamage?
d) Prioritise politics over students’ futures?
e) All of the above?

Carrdus School, a small independent school near Banbury for children aged 2-11, has notified parents it will be closing mid-year. We hope @educationgovuk and the LA will work closely to help secure suitable placements for each student and minimise disruption to their education. #EducationNotTax @LauraTrottMP@NeilDotObrien@bphillipsonMP
@DavidAltonHL@GOVUK The imposition of VAT - illegal elsewhere in Europe - is going to close my children's school in 2025, we learned tonight. Multiple scholarships and bursaries lost. The property to be sold to a hedge fund. Local state schools have no places available. A Labour disaster.
@bphillipsonMP Truly sad and ignorant! You maybe need to look at why many people have had to seek an alternative to state education post Covid and applaud parents for actually caring … and pushing themselves to do what they’re best! Showing your true colours unfortunately.?! 😖
@bphillipsonMP State schools have failed many children and parents had to react for their own sanity and health of their children. Fix this… only this… but not by robbing those parents who prioritise education(as you do) and have only tried to do their best! It is crazy and irresponsible!

@bphillipsonMP Harming children’s education with VAT on school fees is nothing to celebrate. Raising state school standards shouldn’t come at the expense of those thriving elsewhere—our children are not the cause of state school failures! #EducationNotTaxation#FindABetterWay
@bphillipsonMP No-one disagrees that State schools need more funding… but find another way (vat on gambling…. Less for other nations…. Less on weapons…and less 4 PS pay rises )? All you are achieving is chaos across education! Divisive tactics repel, rather than mend!
My question today in @UKParliament on Education Tax and the UN Convention on the Rights of The Child. Read this powerful appeal from a solo mother of a child with additional needs https://t.co/VnMKi860Z8 @bphillipsonMP@Jacqui_Smith1@dianabarran@isuk_uk
@Mofoman360 Unfortunately to feel ashamed I would have had to had some belief in them in the first instance.. sadly they have showed their true colours. They have a very decent salary and ridulous expenses including paid-for fuel. Seems they might have the ‘broadest shoulders’?! 🤔
VAT on schools will bring serious pressure on state schools in multiple places.
The policy is wrong-headed; part-way through a school year, it’s reckless.
