Experienced huge frustrating tech issue today. BUT. I was able to go on my meet for 2 minute before getting kicked off permanently. During one of them, I overhear 2 of my students say "just because she isn't here doesn't mean you can goof off. Do your work." #classculture

Division isn't pure memorization of divide multiply..what was it again? It's a process of splitting things equally and if students understand that, then they can apply the skills, even with decimals. I'm very appreciative of open minded people willing to learn new things.

Another 😄 moment from today: a parent joins office hours with her child. Instead of bashing on "common core," the parent took the time to learn division as a way splitting things up equally amongst groups and said in the end "I like this." Win win moment❤

We then talk about the electoral college and swing states. His commentary and reference to every day life also had me laughing. "Swing states are like people who can't make up their minds. Like umm..idk. idk." Again. It was the way he said it. Simply the best.

I ❤ 5th graders. Today we talked about whether students should adhere to a dress code while virtual learning. A student said "I'm a male. I like girls. I don't look at a girl wearing spaghetti straps thinking "mm dem shoulders tho." It wasn't what he said but how it was said.

I could not stop laughing for 2 minutes straight. He goes on to make more valid points for his argument. Conversations with 10 year olds are the best.
