Body of 7-year-old Heer Bagri (Sindh, Pakistan) found mutilated

Last week, 7-year-old Heer Bagri, a Hindu girl from Sakrand, Sindh, Pakistan, was abducted and murdered in a shocking case exposing minority vulnerabilities.

On October 5, her mutilated body—throat slit, ears and arm severed—was found the next day in a vacant lot. The suspected perpetrator, was killed in a controversial police encounter on October 8, raising questions of cover-up. Her family and community demand transparent justice amid outrage over child safety failures.

Heer's murder echoes prior cases like Pooja Meghwar's 2021 forced conversion and abduction, part of Sindh's pattern of over 1,000 annual girl abductions for conversions or killings.

Human rights groups struggle due to government inaction, threats to activists, and weak enforcement, limiting interventions.
