Today, I tabled a new law in the House of Commons that will protect against hate crimes in this country.
Too many Canadians lack the ability to live freely and celebrate their identity without fear after the recent rise in hate and violence.
The Consulate General of India in Toronto is pleased to announce that Mr. @MahavirSinghvii has taken over as the New Consul General of India in Toronto.
His appointment comes at an important moment to further strengthen and elevate the India-Canada relationship, with a focus on deepening cooperation across trade, technology, education and innovation.
He looks forward to working closely with Canadian stakeholders and the vibrant Indian diaspora to strengthen mutual trust, expand partnerships, and build a forward-looking partnership rooted in shared values and opportunities.
With a diverse professional background as a diplomat, lawyer, Chartered Accountant, Company Secretary, MBA and Cost & Management Accountant, Mr. Singhvi has extensive experience in strategic, economic and global affairs, as well as bilateral and multilateral engagement.

After joining as the Consul General of India in Toronto, I visited the Jain Society of Toronto and offered prayers at the temple, reflecting on the timeless values of Ahimsa (non-violence), peace, unity and harmony.

Breaking news. Historic Development
City of Mississauga becomes the first city in Ontario to formally recognize Anti Hindu Hate. Thank you to #Mississauga council for unanimous support and to all those who delegated.
A Landmark Victory for Hindu Canadians - Recognition of Anti-Hindu Hate in Mississauga : Motion Passed
In a powerful and historic move, @citymississauga has unanimously passed a motion to formally recognize Anti-Hindu Hate within the city. This marks a significant step forward in acknowledging the lived experiences of Hindu Canadians and affirming our right to safety, dignity, and cultural respect.
We extend our deepest gratitude to @DipikaDamerla for her courageous leadership and unwavering commitment to truth. Her voice has consistently illuminated the painful realities faced by our community. We also thank Councillor @JoeHorneck for seconding the motion and standing in solidarity with Hindu Canadians.
The Hindu Canadian Foundation wholeheartedly welcomes this motion. It is not just a policy decision. it is a moral stance, a public affirmation that hate against Hindus will not be ignored or minimized. We applaud every Hindu Canadian who spoke up, shared their stories, and demanded justice. Your voices mattered. Your courage moved hearts. Your presence changed history.
We remain committed to advocating for Hindu rights across Canada. This victory in Mississauga strengthens our resolve to push for similar recognition and action in cities and provinces nationwide. Hate must be named to be dismantled and today, Mississauga has taken that bold first step.
We are proud and profoundly grateful to @citymississauga, every council member, and staff who supported this motion with conviction and compassion. Your overwhelming support sends a clear message: Hindu Canadians belong, and our concerns will be heard.
Motion passed unanimously: 9 votes in favour.
Let this be the beginning of a broader movement, toward justice, awareness, and unity.
How long must law-abiding citizens endure this madness?
Once again, Khalistani extremists have taken to our streets, staging hateful, violent, and abusive demonstrations against Canadians, even in front of sacred Hindu places of worship. These are not protests, they are acts of provocation by deranged, unlawful, and illiterate individuals spreading venom in our peaceful communities.
Are we waiting for a violent tragedy before the law finally acts? How long will these repeat offenders be allowed to spew hate and threaten public safety under the guise of “freedom of expression”?
We urge all community members to remain calm and peaceful, do not engage with these troublemakers. Instead, document their actions. Take pictures, record videos, and expose these clowns and their enablers publicly so they may be recognized, isolated, and disowned by society.
Enough is enough. It’s time to protect our community, our temples, and our shared Canadian harmony from this ongoing nuisance.

Who are these aggressors/protestors that are consuming public resources, and creating disturbances to devotees going to Hindu temples?

Stand Up for Our Rights: Say NO to Cultural Targeting in @citymississauga
Mississauga Mayor @carolynhparrish is once again attempting to ban fireworks, using weak and unsubstantiated excuses. This is her second attempt to suppress a tradition that holds deep cultural and spiritual significance for Hindu Canadians, especially with Navratri and Diwali around the corner.
In one of Canada’s most inclusive cities, this proposed ban feels like a direct attack on the Hindu community. Sadly, this isn’t new; the Mayor previously opposed a COVID vaccine camp held at a temple, raising serious concerns about her pattern of targeting faith-based initiatives.
📄 Read the proposed fireworks ban document here: https://t.co/nPH6MQjkGC
What’s Wrong with This Ban?
1. The rationale behind the fireworks ban is vague, inconsistent, and lacks credible evidence.
2. A small, coordinated group has been used to stir unrest and manufacture complaints, now being weaponized to justify a ban that affects thousands of peaceful celebrants.
3. Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF) stands firm in defending the rights of Hindu Canadians and declares:
"A permanent, full ban is not public policy; it’s a targeted act of exclusion."

This is about more than fireworks; it’s about democratic rights, cultural dignity, and equal treatment. Let’s raise our voices, stand together, and make it clear: We will not be silenced. We will not be sidelined. Carolyn must listen.

The Hindu community urges you not to support the racist, illogical, and divisive fireworks ban being aggressively pushed by @carolynhparrish, who appears to be driven more by ego than what is needed. This isn’t just about Mississauga, it’s about standing up for Fundamental Cultural Rights for every Canadian and Hindu Canadians across the country.
This proposed ban is undemocratic, culturally insensitive, and deeply exclusionary. We fully support reasonable regulations and enforcement, but an outright ban is unacceptable.
We ask you to stand on the side of fairness, inclusion, and common sense.
Memory Refresher @carolynhparrish :
Source: The Pointer, January 30, 2023 – Diwali, business interests take centre stage in fireworks debate at Mississauga council
•“Councillor Parrish … insists she is trying to advocate … She does not want to see a repeat … she does not want an outright ban so community members can enjoy Diwali celebrations …”
•“Councillor Parrish … reiterated the motion before council was not to impose a ban on fireworks, but simply to build on the current by-law which she said was ‘thin.’”
•“As far as multicultural population … It’s a request to staff … it’s not banning fireworks.”

@carolynhparrish A blanket ban on fireworks in Mississauga is misguided, divisive, and racist, specifically targeting Hindu Canadians. Fireworks are a joyful tradition tied to national holidays like Canada Day and Victoria Day, as well as cultural celebrations such as Diwali. The issue isn’t fireworks, it’s misuse.
Enforce the bylaws. Don’t erase the tradition.
Mayor, your support for this ban disregards the cultural and recreational value fireworks hold for thousands, especially within the Hindu community. Many cities address noise and safety through targeted enforcement, not sweeping bans. You and @citymississauga can do the same.
If this truly isn’t about culture, then prove it. Introduce smart regulations: time limits, permits, designated zones. Punish offenders, not entire communities.
This ban doesn’t solve the problem, it silences celebration and fosters division. We trust you don’t want either.
Fix enforcement. Don’t ban tradition.

Today, I tabled a new law in the House of Commons that will protect against hate crimes in this country.
Too many Canadians lack the ability to live freely and celebrate their identity without fear after the recent rise in hate and violence.
I’ll be at Delhi University this Thursday to give a guest lecture on India and the West and the future of their relations.
The talk will be at 12:30pm at the library auditorium at Hansraj College and will be open to all students.
As a Jew, It’s nice to get a new years message from a world leader that doesn’t come with a lecture attached to it.
Thanks Modi and India. Happy Navratri to you!
