There’s a new era in $portals which if you aren’t building on the platform you probably aren’t seeing

The rate at which new features come out has exploded.

In the week since I started my halo style shooter game I’ve had to redo entire sections of the functionality because they pushed out better features that allowed me to make them better

When the JavaScript layer comes out in the next few weeks I’ll probably have to do it again…

I haven't talked about @_portals_ in a while. I'm not going to tell you that the project will be. But I can tell you what the project could be.

Do you know what Stranger Things, Star Wars, and Squid Game have in common? Easy. They're in Roblox and/or Fortnite. Yes, I know you've already heard the Roblox/@_portals_ comparison. But let's go further.

A game like Fortnite can bring together 40 million users daily. Roblox has 150 million players every day. So they're no longer just video games: they're social networks uniting different communities. @_portals_ could be, through video games, the social network for Web 3 communities.

The entertainment industry is constantly evolving. Internet, Netflix, Covid. The industry giants know that the convergence of entertainment is vital. A movie leads us to video games. Video games lead us to a TV series, which leads us to a soundtrack, and so on... And for a project, you have to go where the consumers and entertainment creators are... Roblox, Fortnite, and hopefully @_portals_ .

So, Stranger Things, Squid Game, Twilight, Saw, Divergent, Barbie, Star Wars, Back to the Future, Godzilla, Fantastic Four… they're all on Roblox and/or Fortnite. The giants can no longer ignore these games, which are vectors for brand extension, audience engagement, and the development of new intellectual property. Brands are doing with Roblox and Fortnite what they did with YouTube 15 years ago: they're occupying the space because it has become necessary to have a presence on these games/platforms. In this category of space, in Web 3.0, @_portals_ is unique.

How can @_portals_ be the Roblox of Web 3.0? By fully embracing its identity as a video game social network. Being just a video game platform won't be enough. Portals needs to be the place where all projects, for one reason or another, want to be. A place to activate and showcase brands, creators, and streamers. Everyone in one place. @_portals_ has significantly accelerated its work on creation and creators. I'm eager to see the next stage of attracting players.

So yes, we're in Web 3, and everything is more difficult in Web 3. A token profoundly changes the relationship to the product. Whatever people say, cryptocurrencies aren't accessible to everyone, and especially not to all ages. Do I think @_portals_ has the potential to be a great project? Absolutely. They have the vision, they have a hard-working team, they have the talent (I encourage you to talk to game creators). I'm confident because I know they've chosen the most difficult, longest path, and they've already laid very solid foundations.
