Over the last 12 years, I haven’t seen any foreign publications or news outlets write anything positive about India or the Indian government regardless of whether India was landing on Mars or the dark side of the moon. They rarely mention India helping other nations during COVID-19, providing poor countries with medicines and bailouts, or lifting millions of people out of poverty. There are a few reasons for this:
1. Displaced Journalists: The majority of journalists who lost their influence or jobs under this administration are now working for foreign outlets. They use every opportunity to attack the current government.
2. Strategic Autonomy: India is an emerging power that refuses to align fully with any specific global axis, instead consistently prioritizing its own national interests.
3. Lack of Internal Pressure: Since this government continues to win elections, there is little internal pressure on them. Consequently, those who wish to exert pressure feel they need outside forces to do the job.
4. Ideological Opposition: The revival and rise of Hindu nationalism is a major factor for those who are left-leaning or Islamist. They want to disparage India because they are ideologically opposed to its current direction.
