Commander is an enthusiast format that was only "casual" to the type of person that showed up to Modern tournaments, and throwing it at brand new players has made them worse at Magic AND caused a free for all format with varying unspoken social rules to take over the playerbase.

@rockisinfinite not to talk about magic the gathering but: this is why the arguments around commander format in mtg are also insane. the "casual format" is still pvp and people still do want to win, but now you just have a weird unnegotiated social contract fence around it.

@itsbasilbasil Using AI to make video thumbnails tells me 1) you care enough that you're insecure/worried about it looking bad without doing SOMETHING but 2) you don't care enough to put the time in and figure out how to actually make it look good, or aren't smart enough to. Not great!

Halo has lore and that's a genie you can't rebottle. While there can be speculative enjoyment in thinking about how to curate it, I am uninterested in doing that. I'm really busy figuring out how to get along with the genie. There's all these hijinks and shenanigans.
