A connected Plateau is a prosperous Plateau.
From securing direct Lagos–Jos and Abuja–Jos flights through a strategic partnership with ValueJet, to reviving rail services between Jos and Kuru, the administration is restoring critical transport links that drive commerce, investment, and mobility.
The launch of the Tin City Metro Bus Service is providing residents with safer, more reliable, and affordable urban transportation, while the refurbishment of inter-state buses is improving comfort and efficiency for travelers across Nigeria.
By strengthening air, rail, and road transportation, Plateau State is creating a more accessible, connected, and business-friendly environment for residents, visitors, and investors alike.

PLATEAU, NAMIBIA MOVE TO SEAL STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP ON TOURISM, MINING AND LIVESTOCK DEVELOPMENT
The Government of Plateau State and the Republic of Namibia have commenced high-level discussions aimed at establishing a strategic partnership in tourism, mining, wildlife conservation, livestock development, and intra-African trade.
Plateau State Governor, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, on Wednesday, May 28, 2026, hosted the Namibian High Commissioner to Nigeria, H.E. Walde Natangwe Ndevashiya, at the New Government House, Rayfield, Jos.
The diplomatic engagement, which attracted top government officials and stakeholders despite the public holiday, underscored Plateau State’s growing emergence as a destination for international collaboration and investment under the “Time Is Now” administration of Governor Mutfwang.
Speaking during the courtesy visit, the Namibian High Commissioner commended Governor Mutfwang and members of his cabinet for their exceptional commitment to governance and public service.
“I did not expect to meet such a large gathering of leaders, especially on a public holiday when many would ordinarily be with their families. Your presence here is a strong demonstration of commitment to service, and we are impressed by what we have seen,” the High Commissioner stated.
He described Plateau State as “a true home of peace and tourism,” while praising the state’s hospitality, serene climate, and vast tourism potential.
The envoy disclosed that the visit followed directives from the President of Namibia, Her Excellency Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, after discussions with former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo during activities marking the first anniversary of her administration earlier this year.
According to him, Namibia is seeking stronger relationships with Nigerian states, particularly in areas critical to economic diversification and continental integration.
“We are here to move from rhetoric to action. Africa must begin to trade meaningfully with itself. Plateau State and Namibia can lead that process through practical cooperation in mining, tourism, wildlife development, agriculture, and the creative economy,” he said.
The High Commissioner further revealed that Namibia is considering expanding its premium beef export market to Nigeria, noting that the country already exports high-quality beef products to Europe and the United States.
He also highlighted Namibia’s globally recognised expertise in wildlife conservation and fisheries, pledging technical cooperation that could support Plateau State’s ongoing efforts to revitalise its tourism and livestock sectors.
In his remarks, Governor Caleb Mutfwang described the visit as a significant diplomatic milestone that aligns with his administration’s vision of repositioning Plateau State as a hub for investment, tourism, and economic growth.
The Governor recalled his visit to Namibia in 2012, which exposed him to the country’s globally acclaimed wildlife conservation model and inspired his administration’s renewed commitment to rehabilitating Plateau State’s wildlife park and tourism assets.
“When we began to think seriously about rebuilding and enhancing our wildlife park, Namibia naturally came to mind because of the remarkable success they have achieved in conservation and tourism,” the Governor stated, expressing optimism that the partnership would yield tangible economic benefits for both parties.
Governor Mutfwang stressed the importance of African nations strengthening economic ties through intra-African trade, local industrial capacity, and strategic partnerships capable of reducing overdependence on foreign economies.
“Africa has enough capacity and resources to build prosperous economies if we look inward and mobilise our strengths effectively. Plateau State is ready to lead the pace in building stronger economic and cultural ties between Nigeria and Namibia,” the Governor declared.

He expressed deep appreciation to the Muslim community in Plateau State for their continued prayers, support, and cooperation with his administration. The Governor acknowledged the important role of religion in promoting moral values, social cohesion, tolerance, and national development, assuring that his government remains committed to fairness, equity, and people-oriented governance.
Governor Mutfwang also expressed satisfaction with the conduct of Muslim pilgrims from Plateau State currently performing the Hajj pilgrimage in Makkah. He commended them for representing the state with dignity and exemplary conduct and encouraged them to continue praying for the peace, unity, and prosperity of Plateau State and Nigeria.
The Governor further called on Muslim faithful to use the solemn occasion of Eid-el-Kabir to offer fervent prayers for enduring peace, security, unity, and stability in Plateau State and the country at large. He also appealed to citizens to remember the less privileged, widows, orphans, and vulnerable persons during the celebration, stressing that the true essence of Eid-el-Kabir is reflected in love, generosity, sacrifice, and compassion toward one another.
On behalf of the Deputy Governor, the Government, and the peace-loving people of Plateau State, Governor Mutfwang extended warm felicitations to the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir and prayed for renewed commitment to unity, mutual understanding, and peaceful coexistence. PLATEAU STATE REPOSITIONED AS ENERGY HUB WITH ASSOP FALLS HYDRO POWER PROJECT
The “Time Is Now” administration under the leadership of His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has taken another bold step toward industrializing Plateau State and addressing longstanding energy challenges with the presentation of the official feasibility study report for the proposed 2.4-megawatt Small Hydro Power Project at Assop Falls by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
The feasibility report was presented to the Executive Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, alongside the Deputy Governor, Ngo Josephine Piyo and government officials on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the New Government House, Rayfield, Jos, marking a significant milestone in the administration’s efforts to reposition Plateau State as a hub for sustainable energy, industrial growth, and economic transformation.
Speaking during the presentation, Governor Mutfwang described the project as a strategic intervention capable of transforming the economic fortunes of the state through stable electricity supply for industries, agro-processing, and productive enterprises. He disclosed that the Plateau State Government has already committed over ₦1.5 billion toward the initiative.
The Governor further revealed that UNIDO has pledged additional support of approximately $2 million toward the project, which has an estimated total cost of about $6 million. According to him, the hydro power initiative represents more than electricity generation; it embodies a broader vision to position Plateau State as a net producer and supplier of energy within the region.
“Generating 2.4 megawatts of electricity is no small achievement. It can power industries and stimulate economic growth,” Governor Mutfwang stated, adding that, “Our ambition is to become a net seller of energy.” He noted that the ongoing deregulation of Nigeria’s electricity sector has created new opportunities for states willing to invest in energy infrastructure.
Governor Mutfwang also highlighted ongoing reforms and institutional strengthening within the energy sector, including efforts to reposition the Plateau State Electricity Regulatory Commission and the Plateau State Energy Corporation to drive innovation, improve regulation, and encourage private sector participation in power generation and distribution.
The Governor further disclosed that his administration has commenced discussions with investors interested in establishing solar panel manufacturing facilities in Plateau State, while also exploring opportunities to revive and optimize the capacity of the historic NESCO power facility. According to him, “NESCO can generate close to 30 megawatts once fully restored with the right investments.”
He explained that the combination of hydro and solar energy initiatives being pursued by the administration is aimed at ending persistent power outages, accelerating industrialization, and expanding economic opportunities not only within Plateau State but also across neighbouring communities and states.
Governor Mutfwang directed relevant government agencies to immediately engage with UNIDO on six identified priority areas of collaboration, particularly in energy, agriculture, industrial development, environmental sustainability, and value-chain development. He assured the organization of the state government’s commitment to fast-track implementation of the project.
Earlier, the UNIDO Country Representative, Albert Abaka Johnson, commended Governor Mutfwang for what he described as exemplary leadership in security management, infrastructural development, economic growth, and inclusive industrialization.
Johnson noted that the project aligns with UNIDO’s mandate under Sustainable Development Goal 9 and expressed optimism that the hydro power project, which is also supported by the European Union, would be completed within 24 months once implementation begins.

He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to nurturing bright minds, building promising futures, and providing sound, quality, and affordable education capable of preparing children for global competitiveness in an ever-evolving world.
The Governor emphasized that no child in Plateau State should be denied access to education, stressing that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and realize his or her full potential. He noted that his administration remains committed to promoting inclusive and quality education, while intensifying efforts to combat school dropout, bullying, child labour, child trafficking, and all forms of abuse that threaten the future, dignity, and wellbeing of children.
Governor Mutfwang further assured that the Child Rights Act, as domesticated in Plateau State, remains a critical framework for safeguarding the rights, welfare, dignity, and protection of every child. According to him, the law also serves as a moral guide for building a peaceful, healthy, disciplined, and value-driven society.
He stated that his administration will continue to invest strategically in the education sector through improved learning infrastructure, teacher development, digital innovation, expanded access to quality education, and policies designed to promote the intellectual, moral, and social development of children across the state.
The Governor stressed that beyond academic excellence, children must also be nurtured with enduring moral values, discipline, integrity, compassion, patriotism, and the fear of God in accordance with the true teachings of faith and universally accepted principles that promote responsible living, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
Governor Mutfwang encouraged parents, guardians, teachers, religious leaders, and other stakeholders to continue working together in shaping the character and future of children, noting that the destiny of every society depends largely on how well it nurtures and prepares its younger generation.
He further assured Plateau children that his administration will continue to create opportunities and provide an enabling environment where every child, irrespective of background, can dream, learn, grow, and achieve his or her God-given potential.
On behalf of the Government and the peace-loving people of Plateau State, Governor Mutfwang congratulated all children on the occasion of Children’s Day and prayed for God’s guidance, protection, wisdom, and abundant blessings upon them as they grow into responsible leaders and worthy ambassadors of Plateau State and Nigeria.

MY DEEPEST APPRECIATION TO MEMBERS OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC), THE GOOD PEOPLE OF PLATEAU STATE AND NIGERIANS.
It is with profound humility and immense gratitude that I express my heartfelt appreciation to Almighty God for allowing me to cross yet another milestone of mercy in my journey of leadership and service to Him and to the great and peace-loving people of Plateau State.
The overwhelming support and enthusiasm demonstrated by the distinguished members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the 17 Local Government Areas of Plateau State during the APC gubernatorial primary election held on Thursday, May 21, 2026 is quite humbling! The interest generated in the Plateau process beyond party structures by the citizens of Plateau State and other Nigerians at home and abroad is beyond comprehension!
I am deeply honored by this victory. It has renewed my belief in our common destiny as a people in search for peace, prosperity and the deserved place honour for Plateau State in Nigeria and beyond. This victory belongs to all of us - party faithful, supporters, stakeholders, youths, women, elders, and volunteers who worked tirelessly.
Thank you for believing that The Time is NOW for us to begin preparing to seek the renewal of the mandate of our beloved Plateau people for another term of four years. This trust has re-energised my resolve and determination to lead the way in the pursuit of our ordained destiny as a people set on the hills of glory and the flat and lowlands of fertility.
My profound gratitude goes to my leader, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR for the hand of fellowship he has extended to me and the confidence he has reposed in me. My brother the National Chairman, Professor Nentewa Yilwatda Goshwe, thank you for standing by your public declaration that there is no vacancy in the Plateau State Government House.
My gratitude also goes to the National Working Committee, State, Local Government, and Ward leaders of our great party, the electoral committees at all levels, security agencies, and all individuals who contributed to the peaceful conduct of the party primaries.
To my brother Governors, National leaders, friends, supporters and well wishers both at home and abroad, I want to thank you immensely for your fervent prayers and encouragement that have brought months of anxiety to a re- assuring crescendo! However like in all human endeavors, there would have been challenges which I believe we would resolve as a family.
I equally acknowledge and commend my brother and fellow aspirant, Yilchini Jan Bida, for his sportsmanship, and invaluable contribution to the democratic process. As we move forward, let us remember that there is no victor and no vanquished. The conclusion of the primaries is not the end. We must begin the process of reconciliation in order to strengthen our party and work together for the overall interest and advancement of Plateau State and Nigeria at large.
To my brothers and sisters who contested other positions and were not pleased with the outcomes, I urge patience and restraint as we activate internal mechanisms to address the grievances. To those who were declared candidates, The Time to arise is Now!
I therefore call on all party faithful and the good people of Plateau State to remain united and steadfast as we prepare for the greater task ahead. Together, we shall build a Plateau State that is peaceful, secure, inclusive, prosperous, and filled with great opportunities for all, particularly the youths.
Thank you once again for this great honor and responsibility. I do not take it for granted and you will not be disappointed. I remain fully committed to serving the people with integrity, humility, fairness, and unwavering dedication.
Thank you, and may God bless Plateau State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
