This is precisely the tragic reality that W.E.B. Du Bois painfully discovered during the final stages of his intellectual life. The Black individuals who somehow manage to accumulate personal wealth, corporate power, and elite social status do not . . 1/n
I made peace with impermanence, with the inevitability of change. Life, for me, has been a collection of moments—to gather as many good ones as I can. I don't know what that makes me: broken, coward, nonchalant, selfish. But I know this much. I'll always be true to the moment.
It's easy to succumb to the notion, that only lasting things were ever truly real. Yet even we, in these bodies, have to go at some point: does it mean we never existed? That our joys and sorrows after our demise were any less compelling than the living?
I don't want to center permanence in my relationship with people, or with the world around me. Especially, when the only thing that permanence guarantees me is impermanence. If I were immortal, I might cling to these fleeting waves more.
But I'll die. I might as well live. Even if just a little. And it will bruise some people, and I'll get bruised. I think that's what they call living.
That's what they call living: the laughs between the bruises. The bruises too.

Hi guys, @AlbrightAl47527, CEO of Lola Crotchet Organization will be on @ntvkenya tomorrow. Tune in to watch about how her passion for Disability Advocacy led her to create an organization that brings together PWDs to learn, talk about their challenges and network. 😊
i don't understand why in this generation you have to repress the love you have for someone. why shouldn't i text a lot and show you i like you? why should i act uninterested in you and why should i not communicate our problems??
i always love to hear a story where two lovers realized that they had been in the same place at the same time before they officially met. like oh, the world has been wanting you two to meet all this time. it's just as eager as you are, but it must wait for the right moment
I’m convinced that creativity is the elixir of life, not ambition. not productivity. but simple act of making. the devotion to beauty. the refusal to go numb.
My general rule for feeling mentally well is understanding that the more I judge others negatively, the more I anticipate negative judgement from others. Practicing kindness and leniency and forgiveness has no guarantee of reciprocation, but it puts you in a better state of mind.
Most people don't check the network coverage within the house when house hunting yet it's one of the fundamentals..The house may be nice but once a call comes on you are either shouting like a mad person or walking outside like the caretaker or witch at night
Truth as this is, I think if you are to realize some sort of growth on life, some satisfaction, you should focus, first & foremost, on what you can change. One day at a time. You will not get what they have, but that does not have to be the beginning & end of your story.
I understand we all would like to live the luxury of wealth, but it's a absence does not warrant the suspension of our own lives. Do the best you can, with what you have, and though it will hurt once in a while that you were dealt a raw deal, it will definitely kill you if you do nothing but compare yourselves with the privileged ones. Your life will be a daily funeral.
