My homeowners insurance jumped from $1,850 a year to $2,450.

That's a $600 increase.

Zero claims filed. Not one, in seven years with the same company.

Called to ask why.

The rep pulled up my account, confirmed my clean history, then said the increase reflects regional risk trends tied to storm activity and rebuilding costs across the state, not anything specific to my policy.

So I asked directly. Did anything happen to my house?

She said no.

I'm paying $600 more a year for events that happened to other people's houses, in other parts of the state, that I have no connection to and never filed a claim over.

That's not really insurance based on my behavior at that point.

Absolutely wrong. Carbone, Momofuku, Milk Bar, Nobu, Bazaar Meat (original was Vegas), L’Atelier/joel robuchon, CUT and various other steakhouses are some other examples that are just as good. The Vegas outposts much bigger than other locations are often worse though.
