The Vision at Engan

Blind but unwavering in faith, the sculptor once again received Murugan's command to create a third idol, this time at Engan.

Assisted by his devoted daughter, he began carving in darkness, guided only by touch & divine intuition.

As he worked, shaping the six faces, the flowing ornaments, the majestic peacock & the poised Vel through sheer devotion, tragedy struck... his daughter was injured & her blood splashed into his eyes.

In that instant, his sight was miraculously restored. Overwhelmed, he cried, "Oh, en kan!"... "Oh! My eyes!"... and thus the place came to be called Engan.

The king, finally realizing the sculptor's greatness & the Lord's boundless grace, sought forgiveness. The sculptor later attained mukti at Engan & his Jeeva Samadhi remains near the temple entrance... a silent testament to devotion that no cruelty could destroy.
