@dreamsofcode_io Same. The hidden tax is the debugging time + surprise bills. Using agents for POCs/ideas only now — let them brainstorm, I ship the solid code. Worth the rage quit.
@kennyadr19 Way to go my friend! 👏 So proud of you for grinding and making this happen despite the tough economy. Your place looks clean and cozy — that city view at night is 🔥.
Enjoy your own space, you deserve it! Keep winning 💪
4/ The Verdict ⚖️
If you’re a developer who wants to tinker with local AI models on your own hardware, Voicebox is fascinating.
But for actual creators? Open-source isn't ready to dethrone the commercial APIs just yet. The gap in emotion, reliability, and code-switching is still too wide.
Has anyone found any open-source models that actually handle emotion and Hinglish well? Let me know!
Just spent some time testing the open-source ‘Voicebox’ voice cloning repo. People are calling it an ElevenLabs killer.
We all want a free, local alternative to the premium tools, but is it actually ready for real-world content creation?
Here’s my honest, no-hype breakdown. 🧵
3/ The Multilingual Illusion 🌍
This was the real dealbreaker. I tested the multilingual models on Hinglish (Hindi + English mix).
It failed completely.
It forces a weird, unnatural accent on the words and can't handle code-switching. If you step outside standard US/UK English, the illusion breaks.
This is brilliant @stspanho 🔥
Self-competition via AR ghost + coins + sprint zones is such a clean killer use case for everyday AR glasses. Way more motivating than staring at a watch.
The fact it's a web app running smoothly on the Ray-Bans is even better. Would love to play with something similar.
@KaiXCreator Peak efficiency: 5 AIs, 5 tabs, 5 files, 1 winner.
This is just natural selection but make it Python.
Next she’ll have them fight in a Battle Royale and livestream the survivors.
@om_patel5 Clean UI 🔥 This is exactly what I needed. The auto-import from App Store is genius – no more guessing what I’m paying for.
What’s the pricing like? Dropping the link?
This is awesome! 🔥
Just played with https://t.co/YnTc4BcdPG — the themed grids (Thinking, Debugging, etc.) and all the customization options are super fun.
Love how you turned boring loaders into delightful micro-experiences. Great work open-sourcing it!
Will definitely experiment and tag you with my creations. 👏
@JalexRosa This looks absolutely epic 🐧⛰️ The moody purple lighting, the climb, that determined little guy in full gear… I’m hooked already.
The atmosphere is chef’s kiss. Can’t wait to see the Unity version drop.
Keep cooking Jalex!
Spot on. The real win isn’t pure replacement—it’s a tight human + AI loop. Use Claude for 80% of the grunt work, but keep sharp engineers for architecture, reviews & edge cases. Optimize prompts aggressively and monitor token spend daily. Otherwise, that $100k bill hits harder than any layoff. Hybrid > hype.
