#IGR: Barclays To Cut 5,000 Jobs As AI Reshapes Banking Workforce

Barclays plans to eliminate around 5,000 jobs this year, with about 60% of the cuts affecting support roles such as developers.

The bank has already removed 1,000 positions and plans to complete the remaining cuts by year-end as it expands its use of AI and automation to reduce costs.

The announcement came as Barclays reported a 12% rise in third-quarter profit to $3.08 billion from a year ago, although the figure fell short of analysts’ expectations.
