Yuzuru Hanyu and Yuzu come together for “Ikue,” a song created for NHK’s project to pass on the memories and lessons of the Great East Japan Earthquake to future generations.
Born in Sendai, Hanyu experienced the disaster at age 16 while training at an ice rink. For this special program, he listened to “Ikue” more than 500 times and created his own choreography, bringing the song’s message to the ice through his performance.
Hanyu also shared that he hopes the song and his skating may help the wounds people carry become “a gentler kind of pain,” while wishing for a peaceful future.
The special program is scheduled to air on NHK Sendai’s “Teremasa” on June 11, 2026 at 6:10 PM JST, with the video also expected to become available at the bottom of NHK’s official article page. A behind-the-scenes feature is planned for June 12.

@honeyuzumelody Yes, my natural hair color is black. I've had caramel brown mixed with golden brown for a long time, so it's almost like your hair. I really like that color.
