My @jakpost op-ed is out: Indonesia’s New #Stunting Policy: Elusive or Feasible?
As a power-laden field, #nutrition needs political calculations at the heart of its effective multisectoral coordination. After all, "policy is what it does." https://t.co/wTY5zvwqKT #PhDLand
@GusGreenstein@FukuyamaFrancis@rambletastic CONGRATULATIONS Dr. Greenstein!!! They told me “If you could do a PhD, you could do anything in life!” For it truly shapes one’s character.
Back to Twitter after a hiatus to give a shoutout to @carmenjho_ for this excellent piece that can speak to health nutrition policy / comparative politics / IR literature!
PS: I've finished all 3 Comps & finally working on my prospectus on the politics of stunting policy in 🇲🇨
Why do governments ignore serious welfare issues? And what prompts them to finally act? My article with @apsrjournal shows how governments have weak incentives to expand policies serving folks with limited power on low visibility issues – but bureaucrats can help change this 1/👇
1/3 🧵 #COP27 @l_haddad @GAINalliance 3 points:
1. Climate community: be an inclusive community - bringing Nutrition won’t dilute your message
2. GAINers and partners: don’t be complacent! Work harder to include that climate lense
Tested this assumption to my Advisor for whom I am TA-ing and he confirmed: “I suspect that’s accurate. Strong papers are easy to get through. Poor papers require a lot of work to detect what people are getting at (if anything at all).”

There may be a link between time spent on grading papers and the paper quality? As a Teaching Assistant, I feel a sense of happiness when reading & grading a good paper! But confusing papers frustrated me, for they consume my time more. #PhDLife

A guy asked me: Why is there no term "womansplaining"?
I said: See the broader context. #Mansplaining entails power imbalance between men & women. Sure women can give unsolicited explanation & be condescending too. But there's no history when women had the voice and men did not.
Never felt stressed about cooking until tonight: how to make typical Indonesian fried rice without even frying? My dear friend is 75; vegetarian; doesn’t consume cooking oil. Let the adventure begin tomorrow. Hope not to give nasi goreng a bad name in the US @allisonmeir 🙏🏽
