i’ve watched a lot of Andrey Santos tape in the past few days
I’m going to give my thoughts on his squad fit, strengths and weaknesses/areas i think he can improve on.
my thoughts on Santos has always been that he’s really tidy, and he’s a really intelligent footballer
@analyzingfutbol Can’t believe we’ve had zero links to Garner. None of our fans are really even mentioning
him, despite being in the elite bracket after the season he’s had
No idea of the bad sentiment on Santos. Had everything in his locker in that Strasbourg loan.
Does it all as a #6, #8, #10.
Workhorse. Ball manipulation + disguise to play out of pressure. Fox in box instincts in final 1/3.
If used well United won’t miss McTominay or Casemiro.
In all of this Portugal disappointing performance at the World Cup
— PSG fans didn’t attack Joao Neves, Nuno Mendes and Vitinha or ask that they are sold by their club
— Chelsea fans slightly criticized Pedro Neto
— No words for Bernardo Silva, Joao Felix and Ruben Dias
— Them BOOM! You have Man United fans, attacking Bruno Fernandes with all they’ve got. He has been called all sorts of names. Disrespecting your best player and club captain
Labeling Andrey Santos as a "pure defensive midfielder" is a massive misprofile that completely ignores his true tactical identity.
Anyone looking at his stellar loan spell with Strasbourg under Liam Rosenior where he racked up 12 goals and 5 Assists in all competitions knows he is a dynamic, high-volume box-to-box engine, not a static anchor.
The narrative that he cannot coexist with Tchouaméni or Éderson is fundamentally flawed.
In fact, pairing him with that exact profile is how you unlock his world-class ceiling.
He's not injury prone. Andrey Santos played 47 games last season, with many of those appearances coming off the bench.
His best performances came under Liam Rosenior, who trusted him and gave him consistent starts.
He's never had the kind of injury problems that Mason Mount has had. Judge him on his performances and potential, not on a narrative that doesn't match the facts.
In defence of Santos, who is catching hate bcs we’re broadly underwhelmed and had high expectations, i think most rational people would’ve been happy with him as our 1st signing. A lot of successful defensive activity, good in duels, moves the ball efficiently and can even score.
@mufcacademy91 Atp have to just allow it, one for them one for us situation. With the Ederson context Santos is underwhelming, but looking at it by itself, getting him for sub-50m isnt bad at all. With more minutes I think hed surprise a lot of people
@htomufc Going backwards after missing our main targets, never should’ve gone with ederson first now we’re so far down the list we’re looking at players for similar fees that we should’ve signed over him anyways
