I find it deeply sad that the image of someone leaving their home with just one box is being interpreted as a sign of “endgame.”
That doesn’t speak to choice or destiny to me. It speaks of emptiness. Of a life without roots, where nothing was ever truly his, where everything was temporary.
There’s nothing romantic about leaving with the bare minimum.
There’s nothing poetic about reducing an entire life to a single box.
That doesn’t represent fulfillment, it represents the consequence of years without a real home, without emotional stability, without a safe place to stay.
Sometimes symbols don’t point to the future, they summarize the damage of the past. And reading love where there is loss feels like a very cruel way of romanticizing deprivation.
It’s not romantic to see that Ian survived all this time.
