For the Cloud UMVC3 community โ I created a channel to launch cloud UMVC3 stations directly from Twitch chat. It's much simpler than navigating the years-old guides for setting up AWS. It is even a bit cheaper to boot.
IMO, you sound like a player who attends offline, compete, lose immediately and then just leave. That's just my take.
I'm sure you are probably looking at this at your own financial angle. That's fine. Don't look at the $10 as venue fee. Think of it as being able to play the game in a local setting with gamers that share the same game as you for a few hours. The goal of locals is not just to compete but also to conglomerate. Make friends/rivals. Get better. No one is holding you to enter the tournament. You can easily save $5 if $15 is too much. I'm sure most of your local spots have casual setups too. You can do that all night.
Please note the following. Hobbies cost money. Most important. TOs don't make any $. And even if we do, we earned it for the amount of setup, work, run brackets, stream, carry equipment, etc... it is a thankless job but we do it for passion of it all.
WE DONT want to take $10 venue but we have to pay bills of running locals. $5 to enter the tournament is optional.
Overall. Don't make us TOs sound greedy for asking you to pay venue fees. As you probably noticed, everything is expensive now. It's either we stop locals or we charge you what we use to pay the venue/staff/equipment.
P.S. if the financials are an issue, I'm sure there are online tournaments you can enter that won't cost you any money.
