Fired up to be the new head baseball coach at Parsons. Looking forward to watching our guys compete this winter and ready to build this program #TheVikingWay when spring arrives.
Good luck to our guys as wrestling and basketball get started this week!
We’re excited to watch them compete this winter and represent our school before we hit the diamond this spring.
All players, I promise you this. You’ll never look back when you’re an adult with a family, wife, kids, and think man, I respected the game too much… man, I worked too hard… man, I respected my opponents too much… man, I respected my coaches too much. Nope. You’ll look back and be thankful for the life lessons that baseball taught you throughout the years. You will have a regrets though with the way you treat others… your antics on the field… not giving max effort… being a punk… being selfish… being entitled… being all about you… don’t have those regrets.

Congrats to Connor Largent on earning 2nd Team All-SEK honors!
Connor lead the SEK with a .609 BA in conference play.
His consistency at the plate, competitiveness, and leadership helped lay the foundation for our program going forward.
Match point as Parsons’ Wyatt Shultz captures Class 4A state singles title with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Hesston’s Janmejay Patwardhan. Shultz was state runner-up the past 3 years and finally gets his elusive title.

Went to a HS game yesterday. Had a D1 coach come meet me there to watch a kid.
During the game, the team’s catcher would sprint to his position every inning.
He’s an underclassman, the D1 coach wasn’t there for him, he is now on that coaches radar.
Some things preached at every level -
▪️sprint to your spot between innings
▪️show off your arm in between innings
▪️serious throws in the INF/OF and as a catcher
You can be 0-3 and still make an impression
The “boring” stuff wins ballgames:
-Backing up the play
-Putting the ball in play
-Moving the runner
-Making the routine plays
-Consistent communication
-Throwing strikes
-Smart baserunning
-Taking your walks
-Getting HBP, holding your ground
-Hitting a cutoff man
-Hustling out everything
*At some point, the “boring” tasks of ⚾️ will win extra games! And more often than not, playoff berths, seedings, playoff wins, and even championships can be determined and decided by what many would call “boring.”
Turn the “boring” into the “important” and that’s how you win!

We picked up our first win of the season last night
Andrew Houk threw a complete game with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk
At the plate:
Andrew Houk: 2-4, Double
Connor Largent: 2-4, Triple, 2 RBI
Xander Gabbert: 2-3, Double, RBI
Keller Ball: 2-4, Double
Ballplayers remember this:
Many of your future memories are not gonna be made by your personal stats, your playing time, and probably not even your big wins… Your best memories will be made in your everyday grind with your friends, your bus rides to and from games, those fun times in the locker room or dugout with the boys. Those are the memories that you’re making today. Embrace and enjoy the good times today because they turn into distant memories way faster than you know!!!
