Getting a lot of landspout reports in Western KAKEland. Landspouts are weak tornadoes that form underneath developing storms or near boundaries. Awesome photo of a landspout near the HorseThief Reservoir in Hodgeman County. Photo by Randall Thomas.
Today will go down as the craziest weather day I have ever covered in my home state. Gambled east in the open warm sector / modifying outflow regime ahead of the PFT/cold front and it paid off in the form of numerous large, damaging, but photogenic tornadoes in central Illinois.
One the things that helps me not fall for these is that I actually do not care if you are currently standing for a small committee role. I don't have the energy for that.
I don't even think Convergence is even the issue anymore, it's the chasers that drive on wet asphalt like it's ice when it's not even actively raining. Come on people lol.
