I'm surprised it's taken 8 years for this day of reckoning. Being an entitled prick is the least of Suchitra Vijayan's crimes against decency (ntm humanity). Polis Project was a power grab project; human rights as a business model.
I’m very glad the Polis Project is being called out. They made a mockery of the issues people face daily by operating a two-faced organisation masquerading as progressive, when in reality, they are just entitled, snobby brats.
I had the same experience with them during my internship in 2024. Used to be one of my fav journalist organisations for the work they produced, and for having a spine. Pretty ironic, i definitely learnt it the hard way.
Suchitra Vijayan offered me a full time job (continued)
Very disturbing news from the Polis Project. Can progressive organisations please also follow feminist praxis wrt their employees and behind the scenes? cc @NWM_India
I left that role because I was essentially told to apologise or get fired because I was dispensable for them. Months of hard work, staying up late and working on weekends just to be told your work is not valuable.
towards the end of my internship, only to take it away a week later when I reported her head of Comms misbehaviour and threatening email towards me. What followed was 2+ hour long disciplinary grilling of me because I called them casteist.
"History never ends. The last page is never written, and the best pages are written not by the princes, presidents, prime ministers, popes, or even professors, but by the people. For all their faults and shortcomings, the people are all we have. In fact, we are they."
Michael Parenti was one of the foremost public intellectuals from the West who stood unapologetically with the people, confronted power, and unmasked the false narratives manufactured by media and academia that sought to legitimize imperialist wars and capitalist exploitation.
The people will remember Parenti, and his legacy will be celebrated by those whose realities he made impossible to ignore.
