"This is terrible news for those workers, who are among the lowest-paid workers at the Vancouver School Board," said Bill Tieleman, spokesperson for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 963. "People in the workplace were crying, as we understand it, just wondering how they're going to make ends meet."

The workers whose wages are being reduced are not unionized, according to Tieleman.
