@BenS_MTG 15 year software engineer here. If you need a regular release schedule, never plan for Mondays because of how many three-day weekends there are throughout the year. Tuesday is actually the best day for this. Annoying for us players, but an unfortunate reality for software teams.
@GergelyOrosz@ericjeker While I may not save time in the actual production of code, I most certainly am more productive in all the other parts of the job. Documentation, writing good commit messages, thinking through complex interactions of state machines to find gaps, finding missing tests, etc.
@Sierkovitz Power is also overrepresented statistically due to the power “slot.” I don’t know how much more often we get power than we “should,” but I bet you can see how often one of those 11 is seen versus if it were truly random…
@Milski15@lsv I bet they’ve tweaked that percentage and watched the play rates change, too. Seems like way more power this cycle than the first one in my drafts & games. They’re definitely seen more often than they should be.
@Milski15@lsv It’s more likely a slot with a certain percentage of being power. So one card in any pack has (for example) a 10% chance of being power. The other 90% of the time it’s just a random card like every other slot in the pack. That’s way easier to implement than a two-pass check.
@SaffronOlive Seems like they’re trying to get to a playable Vintage Cube. They’re not adding them just for Brawl, that’s for sure. Power 9 are already coded, and with these additions they’re getting pretty close to a decent cube experience.
Me and @devoncestes will be going for a pre-dinner stroll in Berlin tomorrow around 4PM, maybe see some sites, and grab a 🍻 or two.
If you're in town for @CodeBEAMio EU and would like to chat some @elixirlang and life with us, shoot me or Devon a DM!

Wouldn't ya know it, it's @CodeBEAMio Europe here in Berlin next week! Who's going to be in town!? It's been a long time and I'd love to catch up with my @elixirlang friends - and I actually have the time to do so for once!
I've been in Florida for 10 years now. We all learn what the pineapple means at a certain point....
The swingers in this state are creepy and aggressive. They are also legion.
They signal to each other using pineapples.
You've been warned!!
Our team at @screenverse is hiring @elixirlang engineers.
We're a small welcoming team building interesting things.
Feel free to reach out to me if you got questions!

Today was my last day at @remote, so if folks know of any open Engineering Manager or Staff Engineer positions I'd be grateful for the leads!

@adolfont The story of intentionally passing over systems that don’t allow managers to grow their team is alluring to developers who like to put blame on managers, but likely false. It’s much more likely that people are afraid of perceived risk, which we already know to be true.
@adolfont “Nobody ever got fired for buying GE.” That was the old saying, and now it’s “Nobody ever got fired for choosing JS.” It’s about doing the “safe” thing that doesn’t expose you or your organization to perceived risk, like choosing a niche technology for core systems.
