Get addicted to neuroscience, your RAS, delusional optimism, game theory, subconscious reprogramming, chess, momentum, real dopamine, and stealing what's working. I promise it will change your life.
According to Neuroscience, the way that you start seeing opportunity everywhere is by telling yourself exactly what you want, then writing it down every single day. This is because your brain has a filter called the reticular activating system (RAS).
if you tell yourself you own a red Ferrari, then you start seeing red Ferraris everywhere. Not because there are more on the road but instead because your brain understands it's important now, so it points them out. The opportunity was always there.
I would just write down my goals every time I woke up, and then every time I would go to bed. I would just have one of those legal pads right next to my bed, and I would write down the 15 goals or so that I had. The trick is you want to write them as present tense.
One of the worst feelings in life is knowing you're meant for more and doing nothing about it.
When you're at your 9-5, all you can think about is the thing you want to build. Most of us are just one step away from quitting yet we wait for years for the "perfect time". Psychology has a good job of explaining this.
It's called learned helplessness: researchers shocked dogs until they gave up, and later most of them wouldn't escape even when the door was wide open.
Your job does the same thing to you. You work hard and nothing changes, and when you ask for a raise they tell you at a later time. I was cleaning a warehouse and I stood up one time and had a nail dug into my back. I was trading my blood sweat and tears for a paycheck (literally).
What changed my life wasn't working harder. It was realizing that if I stayed, I'd be capped and stuck living the same life as everyone around me (which I definitely didn't want).
The door's been open the entire time.
According to Neuroscience, the way that you develop confidence is by telling yourself that you’re going to do something, then actually doing it. This is because your brain develops a sense of trust in itself.
if you tell yourself you’re going to do pushups everyday, then you have to do. Not for the sense of working out but instead so your brain understands you’re the type of Person that does what they say.
I like to do this with something simple like going down to breakfast everyday with my lady. I don’t necessarily enjoy eating breakfast, but it’s something I say I’ll do and it gives me that little boost of confidence every day that does wonders in my daily life and productivity.
Psychology advice:
Never ask yourself why you haven’t gotten rich yet. That’s a broad question + you’ll find nothing.
Instead find a clear emotional reason: a fear.
Ask “What am I afraid of?”
Is it the fear of failure, public humiliation, or maybe not being good enough?
You’re only ever as rich as the questions you seek to answer.
I went jet skiing in Greece today. Made $48k in the past 24 hours. I don’t have a home. On permanent vacation. I used to dream of this 5 years ago when my bank account was overdraft and I was freaking out finding a way to pay my bills. Life can get so good if you ask God to show me how good it can get. You just keep showing up and trust that God will put in front of you the opportunities that are made for you. You’ll have your time bro. Trust.
You think getting rich is hard until you look at American stats on wealth:
24 million people are worth > $1M
2 million are worth > $10M
230,000 are worth > $50M
65,000 are worth > $100M
1,000 are worth > $1B
You're not trying to do something impossible.
I’m about to turn 28 and I still don’t have a college degree. In the eyes of many that makes me a failure.
When in reality I’m building my own thing, eating breakfast over the sea in Greece, and moving cities whenever I want.
We write our own narratives.
Success loves SPEED.
Have an idea? Work on it immediately. Get it done NOW. Don’t strategize. Don’t wait. Do it NOW.
The faster you close the gap between idea and execution the more successful you’ll be in life.
