I can only hope that every young academic has a mentor like Carol; someone who not only guides and supports them but - most importantly - inspires them to keep standing up against injustice ๐ฑ
New research by Maja Cullen, @devonmdocherty and @drcaroljasper has deepened our understanding of why #pescetarians choose to eat fish but not the meat of land animals. Read the full story ๐ https://t.co/6hlnk8dTYE @stirlingscience
What leads pescetarians to exclude land animals from their plate but opt to include sea-dwelling animals such as fish? ๐
Our new paper has the answers! Read it open access here โ https://t.co/7O7A8UTWJw
Our recent paper, co-authored by @devonmdocherty and @DrCarolJasper, explores why pescetarians choose to eat fish.
Lack of similarities and shared spaces contributed to experienced psychological distance, placing fish out of sight, out of mind.

@DrCarolJasper @Bullshi75277085 @StirUni Carol, I am so fortunate to have you as a mentor! The patience and foresight you have shown throughout this situation has been so inspiring and I hope it gives others the confidence to stand up to cowardly lowlife trolls. Keep making waves ๐ฑ
Well ... Iโd be wondering who was behind the Dublin Declaration, the pseudo-scientific claptrap aimed at regulators, denying the impacts of animal farming. Guess what? The meat lobby was all over it. Crucial report by @dpcarrington. https://t.co/BevYONpwBs
New episode! @JoshLMilburn speaks to @devonmdocherty about her recent work on the 'cheese paradox' (coathored with @DrCarolJasper) and the #psychology of eating dairy and eggs. Listen now on Spotify, iTunes, or all the usual places!

@kemminnick @DrCarolJasper @thisisnothappen@CoralBlob @dave_odo So you've established yourself as pro-dog meat and happily pro-animal abuse. I'm going to end the conversation here and let that be your legacy.
@kemminnick @DrCarolJasper @thisisnothappen@CoralBlob @dave_odo Ok, so by your logic the Yulin dog meat festival is justifiable since they bred those dogs to be eaten?
@dave_odo @kemminnick @DrCarolJasper @thisisnothappen@CoralBlob That's funny, I have never ever seen a vegan force someone else to be vegan, but I have seen plenty of animals being forced into stun boxes and kill floors against their will.
@kemminnick @DrCarolJasper @thisisnothappen@CoralBlob @dave_odo From the looks of things you are a grown adult, so you don't need to breast feed anymore, be it from your own mother or anyone else's mother for that matter. Hope this helps
@kemminnick @DrCarolJasper @thisisnothappen@CoralBlob @dave_odo Here is a quality video tracking the evolution of milk drinking from a survival resource to the corrupt and abusive industry it is today https://t.co/6HtXYssrbu
@kemminnick @DrCarolJasper @thisisnothappen@CoralBlob @dave_odo Nobody is denying that humans turned to other mammal's milk as a survival technique in times of desperation. But we are no longer in those times, we no longer need to rely on animal proteins to survive, so abusing them for food is not morally justifiable.
@dave_odo @DrCarolJasper @kemminnick @thisisnothappen@CoralBlob Again, you're deflecting the point. As vegans, we don't agree with the dog breeding industry either and advocate for adoption/rescue
@dave_odo @kemminnick @DrCarolJasper @thisisnothappen@CoralBlob Hi, I'm not really sure what this has to do with the debate at hand, but if you have a relevant counter-argument to make, I'm all ears
@kemminnick @DrCarolJasper @thisisnothappen@CoralBlob @dave_odo Can you also explain why it is not cruel to penetrate and impregnate a sentient being against her will, keep her in a cycle of recurring pregnancy, take her own baby away from her at birth, then slaughter her?
@kemminnick @dave_odo @CoralBlob @DrCarolJasper Hi, if humans required animals proteins they would be classified as obligate carnivores, but they aren't. To quote yourself back to you, 'Thatโs science whether you believe in it or not.'
Really looking forward to sharing my research on egg and dairy consumption with fellow animal advocates at Fauna Connections online conference! ๐ฑ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ค ๐ป
