SCOOP: Contrary to some baseless innuendo online, the Capitol attending physician just cleared this senator to return to work, finding only mild xeroderma (dry skin)
@directxman12 @ag_dubs dream2nix was close to this, but they decided to scrap it for a rewrite. Check out their legacy branch. Current docs available via Google search point to v2 branch and are empty.
Pulumi is infra as code (actual code, like Python or TypeScript), and open source.
Terraform is infra in the world's most hated config file format, not very well maintained, and is now proprietary.
We have a winner.
@brianleroux@mikemaccana Seems like it's a great project, but there are those of us who aren't on AWS, and also want to manage other providers such as Cloudflare, etc. That being said, there is a ton of cool stuff in this space, and the adoption of BUPL by Hashicorp is only accelerating things.
@vincentvdk@drissamri88@mikemaccana This isn't correct. Some providers use the existing Terraform providers through https://t.co/VR18sfZLkQ, but there are others like azure-native (which is now recommended over the bridged tf one) that are autogen'd off the API spec and make those calls directly.
@eltishworld @Docker@nixos_org Godspeed! If you have any questions, I'd be happy to help/chat. The Nix DSL has a steep learning curve, but once it clicked for me, I fell in love with it.
@eltishworld @Docker@nixos_org If I remember correctly, it's because it's built with nixpkgs.docker
buildLayeredImage, where each derivation is a new layer. I could be wrong though about that, as it's been a while.
If you want a single layer image, try buldImage instead:

@teej_m@T0bias_Brandt It is not solely a wrapper around Terraform. You can bridge Terraform wrappers with https://t.co/VR18sfZLkQ, but there are Native providers that call the cloud provider's API directly and are autogened by their schemas: https://t.co/pKtc2ks2b1
@EricPresidentVR 3. Internal grumblings about the development of the headset are concerning
4. The market feels saturated already (I know this is a shit take) and Apple is really going to have to differentiate themselves here. I feel like they haven't innovated in years at this point though

@EricPresidentVR 1 (cont.) Unless they end up having their own translation layer for DirectX (a la DXVK or VKD3D but to Metal)
2. The price will likely be ~1.5k or something, which makes the barrier to entry high for anyone except diehard Apple fans and enthusiasts
