For Devon, finding the right college was about more than softball. She knew she wanted a Christian school, and the moment she stepped onto Georgian Court University’s campus, she fell in love. The welcoming environment, paired with the connection she felt with Coach Jim, made it clear that GCU was the perfect fit for her future both academically and athletically.

She’s already off to a strong start this varsity season, batting an impressive:

Devon has been playing softball since she was 9 years old and began competing in travel ball at 11. In center field, she thrives by using her speed to track balls down and make big-time diving catches.

Fun fact: Devon was born on Leap Day — February 29th 🎉

Her recruiting advice:
👉 Start attending camps early and build real relationships with coaches. Those connections matter.

One of her favorite softball memories came after playing her very first tournament with the Lady Nightmares — ending it by winning the championship. A moment that helped shape her love for the game and competitive spirit.

The transfer portal is beginning to see movement. And lots of it.

But! The transfer portal is not a magic fix like social media makes it look.

Last year, over 1600 softball athletes entered the portal… and roughly 33% all of them did not find new homes.

Entering the portal basically means asking to be recruited all over again.

Some athletes absolutely need a fresh start. Sometimes it’s the right move. But it also comes with risk:
• less scholarship money available
• roster spots disappearing fast
• coaches choosing younger athletes or other transfers
• ending up without a landing spot at all

The portal has created opportunity AND instability. That’s why fit matters so much the first time around. Don’t just commit to a logo, ranking, or hype. Ask the hard questions. Make wise decisions. And understand that entering the portal is never guaranteed success.

I had a great time and a hot weekend at the Morabito tournament in Binghamton with my high school team. we went 3-0 on the weekend while I batted .556 with 3 home runs and 9rbis I was awarded tournament MVP as my team and I became co champions of the tournament!
