1/ Your Mac's disk is full and none of it is obviously yours.
Folto 1.3 adds Clean: scan, see what's actually eating the space, bin it.
Nothing moves until you say so. Everything goes to the Trash, so Put Back still works.
I don’t know where I fit in tech anymore.
I spent 5 years as a truck mechanic before I finally found the guts to leave and becoming software dev for last 5 years
I went back to school for Mobile Application Design and Development, took on student loans, and convinced myself I was building a better future for myself and my family.
For a while, it felt like the right decision.
I loved writing code. I loved being stuck on something for hours and finally figuring it out. I looked at senior developers and thought, one day I want to understand systems the way they do.
Now I’m not even sure I’ll ever get there.
The market feels completely different. I’m competing for jobs with senior developers who have years more experience than me. Juniors can barely get through the door. Every week there’s another model that can write, debug, plan, and review more code.
And everyone says the same thing:
“Just use AI.”
I do and that’s almost the problem,
I’m more productive than I’ve ever been, but productive at WHAT COST?
Sometimes I realize I barely read the code I just shipped. I used to spend hours understanding why something worked. Now I describe the problem, hit enter, and watch it disappear.
Great. I shipped faster. But don’t know what I shipped and how it works at all.
I miss writing code not prompting for code. Not reviewing 500 lines an agent generated. Actually thinking through a problem, getting it wrong, debugging it, and eventually understanding something I didn’t before.
I know AI isn’t going away I just don’t know what becoming a “senior developer” means anymore. I wanted to become like the engineers who could write code like it was nothing because they spent YEARS earning that intuition.
This isn’t even limited to software Photography and videography used to be my escape and now AI can generate the image, edit the photo, color grade the video, write the caption, make the thumbnail, and probably tell me when to post it.
We automated the boring parts.
Then the difficult parts.
Now the creative parts.
At some point I start wondering what exactly we’re saving all this time FOR.
I’ve vibe coded apps just to see what was possible. Honestly, I enjoyed it.
You can have an idea in the morning and have something real running by night.
That’s incredible.
Then nobody buys it. So I ask myself why am I burning millions of tokens to build stuff that already exists.
Another landing page. Another dashboard. Another tool automating another tool.
Does every inconvenience need a SaaS or need to be automated?
What’s the point of spending years mastering something when you don’t know if the skill will matter by the time you master it?
That’s the strangest part of tech right now.
I feel incredibly hopeful and completely hopeless at the same time. Maybe this is another Web3,NFTs or the metaverse so when the hype dies down AI becomes another tool instead of THE tool. Or maybe this actually changes everything. I genuinely don’t know.
I just know I left a career I understood, took a risk, went into debt, learned how to build software, and fell in love with it.
I still want to learn, build and want to become a great engineer.
I’m just not sure what path gets me there anymore and I have a feeling I’m not the only one
There is so much hate in the world, but don’t let it consume you, because Jesus said to love your enemies, pray for those who persecute you, and treat others the way you want to be treated.
