A man who's incapable of being violent doesn't hold any virtue. Competence for violence and competence to control that violence both together build virtue. And being good requires this virtue. A harmless man is a weak man. And weak cannot be good, it requires strength to be good.
People, being capable of physically hurting and actually hurting are two different things. No one likes a man who's incapable to provide and providing requires power. It most definitely makes someone egotistical if they resent someone they should respect in the first place.
