Randos in the replies who search for “Italy sucks” have only deepened my opinion. I do not care about your unesco sites, the dolomites are just the brown version of the Alps, and nothing will disabuse me of the way you drive. Especially the scooters, of which there are too many.
Quick opinions from last vacation:
Italy sucks. Sorry. Just a very unpleasant place. I expected as much, but what I *didn’t* expect was for Bolzano to be the worst of Italy and the worst of Germany in one package. Very unpleasant but for the Alps.
In sum: Italians are PoC.

@husafell_stone Switzerland is very difficult for this, no? Not clear to me otherwise why school in Europe is meaningfully better, except your kids will need to grow up multilingual. For us both homeschooling and Europe are options, but ironically homeschooling IN Europe is very challenging.
@FistedFoucault The incentive for Europe is so strongly to just sit out the US-China conflict that I have to assume everybody obviously knows this. The only way I can imagine around this is for the US to promise unimaginable devastation should they come out on top and Europe didn't contribute.
@woke8yearold Neural nets have been around in roughly their current form since ~1960, and it was fairly clear then that the main reason to use, for example, grammar-based algos for language prediction and processing was because of the data and compute shortage.
@nakedemperror@FistedFoucault You realize we just had this argument last year about how tiktok in China uses the wholesome state approved algorithm and in the US uses the brainrot algo?
