It is very disappointing to me. And this realization has truly affected my life and my happiness. I thought we were better people. I thought we had common goals, common concerns, common appreciation and dignity. I taught high school for 39 years. I loved my students. I’m like a parent wondering what I did wrong and what more could I have done. The world is not a happy place. It is hard to feel like an alien in your own land.

It’s a sad country. I taught high school for 39 years. I taught Orwell’s 1984 and I thought it was just odd. This “double-think” where the citizens could believe one thing to be true and be told to believe something else and THEY DID! Orwell called it “doublethink”. Sad part was whatever the government told them was a LIE!
